Every nonagenarian has their own secret to a long life of good health. For some it's walking daily, for others eating their vegetables or occasionally indulging in heart-healthy dark chocolate or wine.

For 90-year-old Arthur Reid of Great Britain, the secret is beer. Lots of it.

The retired council worker and lifelong bachelor has consumed an estimated 30,000 pints of beer by visiting the same pub in his local neighborhood nearly every day for the past 72 years.

"I've always worked hard and enjoyed visiting the pub," he told his local newspaper, The Post. "I've never seen the need to go much farther."

Reid has never, in fact, gone farther than the small village of Warmley, in South Gloucestershire, England, near Bristol, where he was born and raised. He started making the walk from his home to a local pub, The Griffin, when he was 18 years old and back when his favored Courage bitter cost much less than it does today.

Staff at The Griffin look for Reid to arrive around 3:00 p.m. each day and call their loyal customer, or "Uncle Art" as he's known by family, "one of the nicest people" they've ever met, the UK's Daily Mail reports.

Reid's kindness and loyalty to the pub over the years has been rewarded with a special glass of his own behind the bar and now a golden plaque on his favored chair.

The plaque came courtesy of his younger sister, 65-year-old Margaret Lee-Sze-Tsiok, for the occasion of his 90 th birthday celebration.

The plaque reads, "Arthur & his chair @ The Griffin. 90 yrs & still going," followed by the date "10-09-22? to mark the first visit that sparked a lifelong habit.

" I've been coming here a long time and hope that I can carry on for some more years to come," Reid told The Post.
