With Extensive Coverage of Hurricane Sandy, "Nightline" is No. 1 in Late Night with Season-Highs in Total Viewers, Adults 25-54 and Adults 18-49

Season to Date "Nightline" is No. 1 in Total Viewers and Adults 25-54 for 3rd Straight Year

With coverage of Hurricane Sandy for the week of October 29, 2012, ABC's "Nightline" finished as the No. 1 program in latenight with season-high numbers in Total Viewers (4.203 million), Adults 25-54 (1.571 million) and Adults 18-49 (1.190 million), according to Nielsen Media Research. In fact, "Nightline" drew its most-watched week in nearly 1 year and best in the key adult demos in 4 months - since weeks of 11/21/11, 6/11/12 and 6/18/12, respectively.

On Monday (10/29/12), "Nightline" scored its most-watched telecast (4.984 million) in 5 months and best Adults 25-54 number (1.717 million) in 3 months - since 5/22/12 and 7/20/12, respectively.

Season to date, "Nightline" ranks No. 1 in latenight among Total Viewers and Adults 25-54, ahead of both NBC's "The Tonight Show" and CBS' "The Late Show." This marks the 3rd straight year that the ABC program is taking the top spot in both measures.

NOTE: Due to Hurricane Sandy, all three latenight programs were coded as breakouts for the entire week and are excluded from season averages. In addition, on Monday (10/29/12), NBC's "The Tonight Show" was retitled "Tonight Show-JL" and is excluded from the weekly averages. In addition, CBS' "The Late Show" was retitled "Late Show-DL" and is excluded from the weekly averages. The CBS program was titled "Lte Shw/David Ltrmn" from Tues-Fri.
