Family reunions can make for enjoyable get-togethers, but not the one the Shivers triplets may soon be having: The three brothers are all in jail in Michigan.
Two of the 21-year-old brothers – Deshawn and Juronn – were recently convicted of unarmed robbery by a jury in Saginaw County, Mich., after an incident in Buena Vista Township, Mich.
They could soon find themselves at the same correctional facility as the third triplet, Devon, who was convicted in 2011 of multiple weapons charges and home invasion. The earliest release date for Devon, according to Saginaw Police, is 2042.
Saginaw Police Sgt. Terry Carpenter told ABC News Wednesday that the triplets have been part of a gang that operates in the southeast portion of the city.
“They have been members of the ‘Sunny Side’ gang for years, and that includes siblings and family members,” Carpenter said over the phone.
One of those family members is an older brother who was behind bars until August. Sanford Shivers, 30, pleaded guilty in 2001 to obstructing and resisting police, assault with intent to do great bodily harm, and felony weapons charges.
“The Saginaw P.D. is elated by the recent convictions of Deshawn and Juronn Shivers and hope that they receive a stern sentence by the sentencing circuit court judge,” the police said in a statement. “Additionally, we thank the Buena Vista Police Department in their hard work producing the evidence needed to ensure a conviction in their most recent crime.”
