Police are searching for a man who is suspected of shooting a taxi driver during an attempted robbery in New York City.

The suspect got into a livery cab in the Soundview neighborhood of the Bronx just after 5 a.m. Sunday, WABC reported.

The suspect was caught pulling a gun on the cab driver by the taxi's security camera. He demanded cash before he shot the driver three times. The suspect fled the cab without any money.

The victim, identified as Raphael Martinez, is expected to survive, the Associated Press reported.
