While Miami Heat star Chris Bosh was enjoying a lavish birthday bash at a nightclub on Wednesday, a thief was ransacking a walk-in closet in his home. A police report filed early Thursday says the thief made out with more than $304,000 worth of Bosh's jewelry.

The power forward-center realized he'd been robbed after he returned home with his wife around midnight to find two of his rings misplaced on the floor. One of those rings was his beloved championship ring, which he received after the Heat took last year's NBA title. Why the thief didn't nab the championship ring is unknown.

Two of Bosh's other rings ($4,000) and 12 of his watches worth over $300,000 - plus $5,000 in cash - were stolen from his side of the closet. Bosh's wife, Adrienne, reported that $15,000 in cash was taken from her safe, in addition to several purses totaling $155,000, police documents said. That's a total of $479,000 taken from the couple's home.

The Boshes left their 12,368-square-foot home at approximately 7:30 p.m. Wednesday to attend the Moroccan-themed soiree. The police report said that two babysitters and a teenager were left with the couple's two small children. Neither the babysitters nor the teenager heard anything or saw anyone once the Boshes left, police documents said.

There was no sign of forced entry at the waterfront home, although an officer noticed that the front door and the rear door were both unlocked. Bosh's home is equipped with video surveillance and an alarm, but the system was shut off because people were inside the home.

"We think it was probably an inside job," Bobby Hernandez, a spokesman for the Miami Beach Police Department told the Associated Press. "It's very difficult to prevent crimes such as this from happening," he added.

"It's just an unfortunate circumstance. There's not much I can say," Bosh told the AP when asked how he felt about the theft's potentially being an inside job. "It's all about action right now. We'll continue to act and take care of it."

Bosh celebrated his 29 th birthday with fellow Heat teammates, including Lebron James and Dwyane Wade, at the Bamboo Nightclub in Miami Beach. The Boshes made quite the entrance to the bash, as they arrived via a helicopter and a yacht. When the couple arrived, they were greeted by two camels named Henri and Jacob. Three cakes were designed for Bosh, and belly dancers and fire eaters provided entertainment for guests throughout the night. Hip hop artist Kendrick Lamar surprised Bosh with a performance.

The 6-foot-11 center joined the Miami Heat in 2010 after a seven-year stint with the Toronto Raptors. Bosh is currently averaging 16.7 points per game for the first-place Heat. The Heat's recent 27-game winning streak came to a halt after losing 101-97 to the Chicago Bulls on March 27. The Heat's hot streak places just below the 1971-1972 Los Angeles Lakers record for a 33-game winning streak.

Bosh and his wife have refrained from discussing the theft over social media, and have instead continued to post pictures from Bosh's birthday bash.

Hernandez told the Associated Press that police will continue their investigation by interviewing housekeepers, babysitters and anyone else who might have had regular access to Bosh's home, in addition to searching for the items in local pawn shops.
