Playing With Fire: A Row Into Danger

Daredevil sports photographer Alexandre Socci journeyed to Hawaii with kayakers Pedro Oliva, Chris Korbulic and Ben Stookesberry, where they all quickly found themselves in pretty hot water.

Exploring the waters off the coast of the Kilauea volcano, the group was filming their latest installment for the TV show Kaiak, an adventure-kayaking program aired on Brazil's Channel Off.

After observing the lava flows at dawn, kayaker Oliva was the first on the team to dive in as he paddled towards the fountains of molten rock.

Not satisfied with merely floating near the deadly flows and blinding steam, Oliva went ashore and nonchalantly posed for some photos and even torched his oar with lava.

During the team's trip, they explored the islands of Hawaii, Maui, Kauai and Oahu - scouting more than 300 waterfalls and rivers along the way.
