"GMA" Leads NBC's "Today" by 954,000 Total Viewers and 103,000 Adults 25-54

"GMA" Continues to Grow Season-to-Date, Year-to-Year in Total Viewers While "Today" Declines

ABC News' "Good Morning America" ranked No. 1 during the first full week of the 2013 May sweep in both Total Viewers (5.617 million) and Adults 25-54 (2.050 million), according to Nielsen Media Research. For the week of April 29, 2013, "GMA" outperformed NBC's "Today" (4.663 million and 1.947 million, respectively) by +954,000 Total Viewers and by +103,000 Adults 25-54, leading the morning's No. 2 morning program by its largest Total Viewer margin in 9 weeks and best in the demo in 8 weeks - since w/o 2/25/13 and w/o 3/4/13, respectively. Additionally, GoodMorningAmerica.com on Yahoo! reached 23 million users in March 2013. It is the No. 1 morning news website and beats Today.com by millions of users each month.

Leading all 31 weeks of the 2012-13 season to date, "GMA" has ranked No. 1 every week in Total Viewers for more than eight months (the last 37 weeks - since w/o 8/13/12 ) and in 42 of the last 44 weeks (behind "Today" only during the 2 weeks of the 2012 Summer Olympics). Further, "GMA's" 37 consecutive weeks at the top stand as its longest stretch at No. 1 in more than 21 years - since before the 1991-92 season; Nielsen's electronic database started on September of 1991.

In Adults 25-54, "GMA" has ranked No. 1 in 25 of 31 weeks, representing "GMA's" most number of No. 1 finishes in a season in the key adult news demo in 20 years - since the 1992-93 season.

"GMA" improved on the same week last year in Total Viewers (+9% - 5.168 million on w/o 4/30/12) to see year-to-year improvement in all 31 weeks this season. In contrast, "Today" (-11%) has not only seen losses year to year in Total Viewers in all 31 weeks of the season, it has turned in losses for the last 37 weeks overall, starting with the week following the Summer Olympics (since w/o 8/13/12).

Season to date, "GMA" stands as the No. 1 morning news program in both Total Viewers and Adults 25-54. It is leading "Today" by its largest season margin in overall viewers (+623,000) in more than 21 years, and in the adult news demo (+72,000) in 20 years - since at least the 1991-92 season and the 1992-93 season, respectively; Nielsen's electronic database started on September of 1991.

Season to date "GMA" is up in both Total Viewers (+8%) and Adults 25-54 (+2%) versus its year-ago averages, growing the most in the key adult news demo (NBC's "Today" is down -13%/-19%, respectively; CBS' "This Morning" is up +10%/+1%, respectively). "GMA" is seeing its largest overall season audience in 8 years and best Adult 25-54 performance in 4 years - since the 2004-05 and 2008-09 seasons, respectively.

For the week, "GMA" topped CBS' "This Morning" in both Total Viewers (+86%) and Adults 25-54 (+87%).

Note: All three morning news programs aired with low coverage on Tuesday starting at approximately 7:45a due to a Presidential Press Conference that aired live across the country (82% coverage for ABC and NBC, 81% coverage for CBS). ABC was broken out for 29 minutes, NBC was broken out for 26 minutes, and CBS was broken out for 30 minutes. All broken out minutes are excluded from the weekly averages.
