GRAND CENTRAL PUBLISHING ACQUIRES GOOD MORNING AMERICA ANCHOR ROBIN ROBERTS'S MEMOIR
New York, NY-May 22, 2013
Grand Central Publishing, a division of Hachette Book Group, is pleased to announce the acquisition of a memoir by beloved Good Morning America anchor Robin Roberts. Jamie Raab, President and Publisher of Grand Central Publishing, acquired the world rights from Paul Fedorko and Peter Goldberg of N.S. Bienstock, Inc. The as yet untitled memoir and accompanying audio book will be published in April 2014 with Raab editing.
In her new memoir, Roberts will tell the amazing story of her courageous battle against a life-threatening illness, the life lessons she continues to learn, and her inspiring return to the GMA anchor desk.
"I am humbled that many have an interest, and draw strength from my on-going journey," said Roberts. "I'm grateful for the prayers and well wishes of so many people. I'm thrilled that Jamie Raab and Grand Central Publishing will help me tell my story."
Of the acquisition, Raab said, "I have long admired Robin Roberts's career and courage and am so honored to be publishing her book. Her story is both dramatic and inspiring, and will capture the incredible spirit that has endeared her to all of us who have followed her remarkable career and life."
After a long career at ESPN on SportsCenter, Roberts joined ABC News in 1995 and is currently co-anchor of ABC's Good Morning America. During her tenure at GMA, the broadcast won three consecutive Emmy Awards for Outstanding Morning Program and surged in the ratings to become the number one morning show in the United States.
A versatile anchor, Roberts is known for her headline producing interviews with news makers including President Barack Obama, First Lady Michelle Obama and the former First Lady of Massachusetts, Ann Romney.
The proud Mississippi native is the recipient of many awards and honors from organizations across the country, including a 2013 Peabody Award for "Robin's Journey" - a series of reports that aired on ABC News that chronicled her battle with MDS and raised awareness of how everyone could join the ranks of bone marrow donors.
An accomplished college player, in 2012, Roberts was inducted into the Women's Basketball Hall of Fame.
Her first book, From the Heart, 7 Rules to Live By (Hyperion 2007) was a New York Times bestseller.
