A 21-year-old Texas man has been indicted for felony murder in the fatal heroin overdose of Texas billionaire T. Boone Pickens' grandson.

The indictment handed down by a Tarrant County, Texas, grand jury accuses Brennan Trainor Rodriguez of injecting heroin into the body of Thomas Boone Pickens IV, 21, resulting in his fatal overdose on Jan. 29.

Rodriguez, 21, was also indicted for manslaughter, tampering with evidence and delivering a controlled substance.

His attorney, Bruce Ashworth, declined to comment.

According to the indictment, Rodriguez, who attended Texas Christian University with Pickens, removed drugs and paraphernalia from the scene, just a few miles from campus, and hid them from law enforcement after his classmate's death.

Lisa Albert, a spokeswoman for the school, told ABC News' Dallas affiliate WFAA that Rodriguez was suspended prior to the indictment being handed down, pending a disciplinary hearing at the university.

"He is not currently enrolled in classes and is not a student," she said.

T. Boone Pickens founded Mesa Petroleum in 1956, and made a fortune throughout the 1980s in oil drilling and with high-profile deal making. He now chairs the hedge fund BP Capital Management and was listed in March as the 360th richest person in America by Forbes magazine.
