"ABC World News with Diane Sawyer" Grows Demo Audience the Most Year-to-Year

"ABC World News" #1 Newscast in Key News Demo on Friday Outperforming "NBC Nightly News"

Season-to-Date, "ABC World News" Posting Smallest Gaps with "NBC Nightly News" in 5 Years

For the week of July 8, 2013 "ABC World News with Diane Sawyer" averaged 6.88 million Total Viewers and a 1.5 rating/6 share/1.81 million in Adults 25-54, according to Nielsen Media Research. Week-to-week, "World News" posted a +3% increase in Adults 25-54 (1.75 million w/o 7/1/13) to draw its largest news demo audience in 7 weeks - since w/o 5/20/13.

"World News" was up by +3% in Adults 25-54 versus the year-ago week (1.77 million on w/o 7/9/12). In fact, the ABC evening newscast grew the most year-to-year in the key adult news demo compared to "CBS Evening News" (-8%) and "NBC Nightly News" (+1%).

"World News" ranked No. 1 on Friday (7/12/13) in Adults 25-54, topping NBC's "Nightly News" by +48,000 demo viewers (1.607 million vs. 1.559 million).

For the 4th consecutive week and in 7 in the last 8, "World News" narrowed its year-to-year Adults 25-54 gap with "NBC Nightly News" by double-digits (-10%, 305,000 vs. 339,000) .

Season-to-date, "World News" has increased its Total Viewing audience (+3%) compared to the same point last season, drawing its most-watched season in 2 years - since the 2010-11 season. "World News" narrowed its margins by double-digits with "NBC Nightly News" among both Total Viewers (-21%) and Adults 25-54 (-10%) to post its smallest margins (787,000 and 314,000, respectively) with the NBC program in 5 years- since the 2007-08 season.

For the week, "World News" defeated "CBS Evening News" by 980,000 Total Viewers and by 231,000 Adults 25-54 .
