Heidi Fleiss Busted for Allegedly Growing Pot

Convicted money-launderer Heidi Fleiss, known as the "Hollywood Madam," is back in hot water with local authorities after cops busted her for allegedly growing marijuana on her property.

The Nye County, Nev., Sheriff's Department charged Fleiss, 47, this week for allegedly growing nearly 400 pot plants in and around her home, the department said today.

Law enforcement officers say they became aware of Fleiss' alleged farming project after arriving at her property looking for another woman wanted for arrest, according to The Associated Press. Police questioned Fleiss about the marijuana plants and said she admitted growing them without a license and planning to sell the plants to a pot cooperative in Las Vegas, where marijuana for medical use is legal.

Police found 392 plants in a field and near another building on the property, according to Sheriff Anthony L. De Meo. The officers did not arrest Fleiss because they would not be able to house her multiple pet birds, valued at more than $300,000, while she were in custody, he said.

The department recommended drug charges to the local prosecutor, he said.

ABC News was unable to reach Fleiss for comment.
