Police Probe Possible Heroin Overdose of Father, 4-Year-Old Son

Police in Redmond, Wash., said a 4-year-old boy and his father are under heavy sedation after suspected heroin overdoses.

According to police, the boy's mother found her son and husband unconscious but breathing when she arrived home Tuesday morning.

Drug paraphernalia was found at the scene, along with a substance believed to be heroin, Lt. Charlie Gorman of the Redmond Police Department told ABCNews.com.

The boy and his father are in stable condition at separate hospitals, Gorman said.

The suspected drugs found at the scene have been sent to a laboratory, Gorman said, and he expects it will be weeks until authorities find out what the substances are.

The names of the boy and his father have not been released due to the ongoing investigation, and Gorman said it was too soon to tell if the father would face charges.
