"GMA" is #1 for the Week

"GMA" Tops NBC's "Today" by 729,000 Total Viewers and 109,000 Adults 25-54

"GMA" Grows Significantly Year-to-Year in All Key Target Demos

ABC News' "Good Morning America" stood as the No. 1 morning newscast in Total Viewers (5.607 million) and Adults 25-54 (2.153 million) for the week of September 30, 2013, according to Nielsen Media Research. "GMA" bettered NBC's "Today" (4.878 million and 2.044 million, respectively) by 729,000 Total Viewers and by 109,000 Adults 25-54. In addition, "GMA" widened its lead over the No. 2 ranked "Today Show" from its lead on the year ago week by 13% in Total Viewers (646,000 on w/o 10/1/12).

"GMA" has ranked No. 1 every week in Total Viewers for more than 14 months (the last 59 weeks - since w/o 8/13/12). "GMA's" 59 consecutive weeks at the top stand as its longest stretch at No. 1 in more than 21 years - since before the 1991-92 season; Nielsen's electronic database started in September 1991.

In Adults 25-54, " GMA" has ranked No. 1 for the last 12 weeks, its longest news demo winning streak in more than 20 years - since w/o 4/12/93 to w/o 6/28/93 during the 1992-93 season.

On Friday (10/4/13), "GMA" posted the top Adult 25-54 telecast (2.288 million) of any morning newscast in more than 4 months - since 5/22/13 on "GMA."

Week two of "GMA" delivered gains over premiere week (5.547 million, 2.067 million and 1.434 million on w/o 9/23/13) in Total Viewers (+1%) , Adults 25-54 (+4%) and Adults 18-49 (+6%) , turning in its strongest news demo performance in nearly 7 months - since w/o 3/04/13.

"GMA" saw year to year improvement across all key target demos: Total Viewers (+14%) , Adults 25-54 (+15%) and Adults 18-49 (+6%) - 4.932 million, 1.870 million and 1.434 million, respectively, on w/o 10/1/12. In fact, the ABC morning news program has seen gains on the year-ago week in overall viewers and in the key adults news demo for the last 5 weeks.

Two weeks into the 2013-14 season, "GMA" stands as the No. 1 morning news program for the 2nd straight year in both Total Viewers and Adults 25-54. "GMA" is leading NBC's "Today" by 762,000 Total Viewers and 82,000 Adults 25-54. In fact, "GMA" is beating "Today" by its largest overall viewer season margin in more than 22 years - since at least the 1991-92 season; Nielsen's electronic database started on September of 1991.

Growing for the 3rd year in a row, "GMA" is up by double-digits over the same point last season in both Total Viewers (+13%) and Adults 25-54 (+11%) . In fact, "GMA" is seeing its largest overall season audience in more than 22 years and best Adults 25-54 performance in 7 years - since before the 1991-92 season and the 2006-07 seasons, respectively.

During the week, "GMA" nearly doubled the performance of "CBS This Morning" in Total Viewers (+89%), while more than doubling in Adults 25-54 (+107%) and Adults 18-49 (+103%) .
