Surveillance video from the Washington, D.C., metro system caught Maurice Owens in what authorities said shows him faking his own fall on a banana peel in August.

Owens told police he slipped and fell on the banana peel as he was getting off an elevator and sued the WMATA for $15,000, according to ABC News station WJLA.

The video, however, shows Owens look up at the camera in the elevator, drop something on the floor, and then fall on it. The object was later identified to be the banana peel, according to WJLA. He's been charged with second-degree fraud, authorities said.
