"World News" Slashes the Year-to-Year Gaps with NBC by -44% in Total Viewers and -62% in Adults 25-54, Narrowing the News Demo Margin by Double-Digits in 5 of Last 6 Weeks

"World News" is Up Versus the Same Point Last Season in Total Viewers (+2%) and Adults 25-54 (+1%), Delivering Most-Watched Season in 4 Years

For the week of November 18, 2013, "ABC World News with Diane Sawyer" averaged 8.274 million Total Viewers and a 1.7 rating/6 share/2.046 million in Adults 25-54, according to Nielsen Media Research. "World News" was up week to week in both Total Viewers and Adults 25-54 - 8.243 million and 1.961 million, respectively, on w/o 11/11/13. In fact, hitting a season high in Total Viewers, "World News" drew its largest overall audience in 7 months - since w/o 4/15/13. In addition, the ABC evening newscast stood as the only program to improve over the previous week in the key adult news demo as "CBS Evening News" was flat, while "NBC Nightly News" was down (-4%).

"World News" narrowed its week-to-week gaps with "NBC Nightly News" in both Total Viewers (-4% - 1.060 million vs. 1.102 million) and Adults 25-54 (-44% - 235,000 vs. 418,000).

"World News" slashed its year-to-year margins with "NBC Nightly News" in both Total Viewers (-44% - 1.060 million vs. 1.897 million) and Adults 25-54 (-62% - 235,000 vs. 617,000). In fact, "World News" has narrowed its news demo margin with "Nightly News" by double-digits versus the year-ago week in 5 of the last 6 weeks.

Season to date, "World News" is up versus the same point last season in both Total Viewers (+2%) and Adults 25-54 (+1%), delivering its most-watched season in 4 years - since the 2009-10 season. "World News" is the only evening newscast to grow from the same point last season in the key adult news demo compared to "CBS Evening News" (-8%) and "NBC Nightly News" (-3%).

In addition, "World News" has narrowed its season margin with "NBC Nightly News" in Adults 25-54 by double-digits (-25%) compared to its season margin at the same point last year. In fact, "World News" is posting its smallest news demo margin (255,000) with the NBC program in 5 years- since the 2008-09 season.

For the week, "ABC World News" beat the "CBS Evening News" by 696,000 Total Viewers and by 212,000 Adults 25-54.
