"This Week" posts its First Back-to-Back Total Viewer Win Over "Meet the Press" this Season

On December 15, 2013, ABC News' "This Week with George Stephanopoulos" averaged 2.861 million Total Viewers and 806,000 Adults 25-54, according to Nielsen Media Research. For the 2nd week in a row, "This Week" beat NBC's "Meet the Press" in Total Viewers (+96,000), posting its first back-to-back Total Viewer win over the NBC program this season.

For the 5th consecutive week, "This Week" was up on the year-ago Sunday in Total Viewers (+1%)- 2.824 million on 12/16/12. In fact, "This Week" stood as the only public affairs program to grow its overall audience year to year as CBS' "Face the Nation" (-12%), NBC's "Meet the Press" (-21%) and Fox's "Fox News Sunday" (-14%) all posted double-digit Total Viewer losses.

Season to date, " This Week" is up in Total Viewers (+8%) versus its year-ago season average, delivering its most-watched season in 5 years and 2nd-most watched in 12 years - since the 2008-09 and the 2001-2 seasons, respectively. In addition, "This Week" is up the most compared to the same point last season versusCBS' "Face the Nation" (+4%), NBC's "Meet the Press" (-7%) and Fox's "Fox News Sunday" (-6%). "This Week" also leads "NBC's "Meet the Press" by +23,000 Total Viewers, beating the NBC program by its largest overall viewer margin in 17 years - since the 1996-97 season.
