Mom Says Twins Born in Different Years Will Get Separate Parties

Three sets of New Years twins will have a lifetime of explaining to do. In each case one baby was born on Dec. 31 and the other on Jan. 1. They're twins, yet they were born in different years.

One mother is already dedicated to making sure each of her little girls gets their own special day.

"They won't have to celebrate birthdays together. They endured enough just to get here, and have been through enough complications already that they deserve to have their own parties," said Veronica Reed, 31, who is recovering from a C-section at Abilene Regional Medical Center in Texas.

Reed amazed her doctors by carrying both babies, Hannah Grace and Danielle Lyn, fully to term after they underwent an in utero procedure in August, after it was discovered that one of the babies was taking life-sustaining nutrients from the other.

Danielle Lyn was briefly kept in the NICU following her birth, but both girls are thriving, Reed said.

Reed's twins join two other sets born on either side of the threshold of the new year.
