For the week of February 3, 2014, "ABC World News with Diane Sawyer" averaged 9.491 million Total Viewers and a 2.3 rating/8 share/2.763 million in Adults 25-54, according to Nielsen Media Research. Posting gains over the previous week (9.400 million and 2.703 million, respectively, on w/o 1/27/14) for the 3rd week in a row in both Total Viewers (+1%) and Adults 25-54 (+2%) to hit new season highs, "World News" drew its largest overall audience and best news demo performance in 3 years - since w/o 1/31/11.

"World News" ranked as the No. 1 evening newscast on Tuesday in Adults 25-54, beating NBC's "Nightly News" by +94,000 demo viewers (3.112 million vs. 3.018 million on 2/4/14). Further, "World News'" Tuesday airing was its top single-day news demo telecast in 3 years - since 2/1/11.

For the 5th time in the last 6 weeks, "World News" saw increases over the year-ago week in both Total Viewers (+10%) and Adults 25-54 (+19%) - 8.628 million and 2.328 million, respectively, on w/o 2/4/13. Once again, "World News" grew the most year to year in Adults 25-54 compared to "CBS Evening News" (+6%) and "NBC Nightly News" (+12%).

"World News" narrowed its Adults 25-54 gap with "NBC Nightly News" year to year nearly in half (-40% - 188,000 vs. 315,000). In fact, "World News" has cut its news demo gap with "NBC Nightly News" by double-digits from the year-ago week for the last 7 weeks.

Season to date, "World News" is up versus the same point last season in both Total Viewers (+3%) and Adults 25-54 (+3%), delivering its most-watched season in 5 years and best news demo number in 3 years - since the 2008-09 and the 2010-11 seasons, respectively. "World News" also stands as the only evening newscast to improve its demo performance from the previous season compared to "CBS Evening News" (-6%) and "NBC Nightly News" (-2%).

In addition, "World News" is narrowing its season margin with "NBC Nightly News" in Adults 25-54 by double digits (-29% - 252,000 vs. 355,000) compared to its season margin from the same point last year. In fact, "World News" is posting its smallest news demo margin with the NBC program in 6 years - since the 2007-08 season.

"World News" has nearly doubled its Adults 25-54 lead over "CBS Evening News" versus its year-ago season lead (+96% - 347,000 vs. 177,000).

For the week, "ABC World News" beat the "CBS Evening News" by 969,000 Total Viewers and by 497,000 Adults 25-54. In fact, "World News" led the CBS program by its largest news demo advantage in nearly 4 months (since w/o 10/14/13) and 2nd largest overall this season.
