Broadcast Marks its Longest Winning Streak in the Key Adult News Demo in over 19 Years

On March 16, 2014, ABC News' "This Week with George Stephanopoulos" average 3.565 million Total Viewers and 1.183 million Adults 25-54, according to Nielsen Media Research. Ranking as the No. 1 public affairs program for the 4th straight Sunday in Adults 25-54 , "This Week" marked its longest winning streak in the key adult news demo in over 19 years ( 9/18 - 10/9/94), based on regular telecasts.

"This Week" outperformed NBC's "Meet the Press" by 908,000 Total Viewers and by 399,000 Adults 25-54 lead, leading the NBC program by its largest margins in more than 16 years - since 8/31/97, based on regular telecasts.

"This Week" built on the previous week (3.267 million and 1.109 million, respectively, for 3/9/14) in both Total Viewers (+9%) and Adults 25-54 (+7%) , turning in its 2nd strongest performance of the season.

"This Week" saw significant increases year to year (2.527 million and 704,000, respectively on 3/17/13) in both Total Viewers (+41%) and Adults 25-54 (+68%). In fact, "This Week" has delivered year-to-year increases for the last 7 weeks in both measures. The ABC public affairs program was also up the most in Adults 25-54from its year-earlier telecast compared to CBS' "Face the Nation" (+43%), NBC's "Meet the Press" (flat) and Fox's "Fox News Sunday" (+5%).

Season to date, " This Week" is up by double-digits in Total Viewers (+14%) and Adults 25-54 (+11%) versus its year-ago season averages. Growing in both measures for the 2nd year in a row, "This Week" is delivering its strongest performance in 5 years - since the 2008-09 season. In addition, "This Week" is up the most from the same point last season in both Total Viewers and Adults 25-54 versus CBS' "Face the Nation" (+2%/+3%), NBC's "Meet the Press" (-5%/-8%) and Fox's "Fox News Sunday" (+1%/-11%).

In addition, "This Week" leads NBC's "Meet the Press" this season in both Total Viewers (+61,000) and Adults 25-54 (+22,000), beating the NBC program during a season for the first time in 17 years in overall viewers and in 20 years in the key adult news demo - since the 1996-97 and the 1993-94 seasons, respectively.
