Coast Guard Searches for Overboard Cruise Passenger

The U.S. Coast Guard is searching the ocean off the Florida coast for a man who either jumped or fell overboard from a cruise ship early this morning

A Coast Guard spokeswoman confirmed to ABC News that they had been called around 2 a.m. today about a passenger who had jumped overboard the cruise ship Bahamas Celebration, which was approximately 27 nautical miles from Delray Beach, Fla.

According to a spokesman for the Celebration Cruise Line, the male passenger was traveling aboard the ship with an unidentified companion. No further identifying information was being released.

According to a spokesman for Celebration Cruise Lines, the ship's crew immediately notified the Coast Guard and stayed in the area during the search. The ship, which was coming back from a two-night cruise, returned to port about two and a half hours later than scheduled, arriving around 9:30 a.m. today.
