91-Year-Old Grandmother Gets to Attend Her First Prom

Turns out prom night can also be for both the young and the young at heart.

At the age of 91, Edna Lamping was able to finally take her first spin on the prom dance floor, according to ABC News affiliate WTAE-TV in Pittsburgh, Pa.

It may have taken a long time, but Lamping got to wear all of the trademark prom accessories, including a corsage and tiara, although she still took along her cane. She didn't attend her first prom after her family forbid it.

This time Lamping not only got to go to the prom, but she got to take along a very important date, her husband Joe Lamping.

"I think I brought the best looking girl here," Joe Lamping told WTAE-TV.

The couple's family had been planning to throw them a prom-style party, but instead their daughter asked the local school if the Lampings could attend as special guests.

Not only did the high school allow them to attend as VIP guests, they even gave the couple their own private table. The couple were able to dance for a bit and were cheered on by the students, although Lamping said they don't get to out like they used to.

"We used to dance, Friday, Saturday and Sunday," she said. "But not anymore because the legs don't carry us."

Lamping wasn't quite as impressed with the local students' dancing steps.

"They just stand in one place and shake it," Lamping said.
