Patrick Eggert, who came face-to-face with Elliot Rodger, who killed six and wounded 13 in Friday's rampage near the University of California, Santa Barbara, said today there was one thing he wishes he could have done.

"I wish I could talk to him before he did it and maybe say something that would make it seem less worth it," Eggert told ABC News.

Eggert, a freshman, was riding his bike when Rodger's black BMW plowed into him and friend Nick Pasichuke. Rodger was later found dead inside the car, after apparently shooting himself in the head.

Eggert said the one thing that stood out in his mind when he thought back to Friday was that Pasichuke had survived.

"When I was running up to him," Eggert said. "I wasn't expecting him to be alive."

Pasichuke had been thrown 50 feet in the air. He's still in a hospital today with two broken legs.

Eggert, who suffered minor injuries, said it was hard to say he felt anger.

"It's hard for me to say that when families are, you know, burying their loved ones right now or taking care of patients with gunshot wounds," he said. "I am super, super thankful to get off … with the minor injuries that I did."
