The day was a roaring success for four adorable lion cubs who passed their swim tests at the National Zoo in Washington D.C.

The cubs - three boys and one girl - were born 10 weeks ago at the zoo.

The cute cats paddled and managed to keep their heads above water as they swam across a pool and made their way to dry land.

The swim test was a crucial step for the cubs before they join the zoo's exhibit, which is expected to happen in mid-June, according to ABC News' Washington D.C. affiliate WJLA.

The next step on the to-do list for the cubs: vaccinations.
