For the week of April 28, 2014, which included the first full week of the 2014 May Sweeps, " ABC World News with Diane Sawyer" ranked as the No. 1 evening newscast among Adults 25-54, according to Nielsen Media Research. "ABC World News with Diane Sawyer" led "NBC Nightly News with Brian Williams" by +8,000 Adults 25-54 (2.144 million vs. 2.136 million) to win the week in the key adult news demo in 3 of the past 4 weeks.

"World News" claimed the week's No. 1 Adults 25-54 telecast for the 3rd time in the last 4 weeks with its Monday airing. Head-to-head, "World News" outperformed "NBC Nightly News" on Monday by 457,000 Adults 25-54 (2.764 million vs. 2.307 million) to score its largest single-day advantage over a "Nightly News" telecast in more than 5 years - since 11/18/08, based on regular telecasts.

"World News" built on the prior week by 6% in Total Viewers and by 11% in Adults 25-54 (7.602 million and 1.932 million, respectively, for w/o 4/21/14), hitting 5-week highs in both measures - since w/o 3/24/14.

"World News" posted double-digit year-to-year increases in both Total Viewers (+11%) and Adults 25-54 (+21%) - 7.307 million and 1.777 million, respectively, on w/o 4/29/13. "World News" grew the most in Adults 25-54 from its year-ago performance compared to "CBS Evening News" (+10%) and "NBC Nightly News" (+4%).

Season to date, "World News" is up versus the same point last season in both Total Viewers (+3%) and Adults 25-54 (+4%), delivering its most-watched season in 5 years and best news demo number in 3 years - since the 2008-09 and the 2010-11 seasons, respectively. "World News" also stands as the only evening newscast to improve its demo performance from the previous season compared to "CBS Evening News" (-5%) and "NBC Nightly News" (-2%).

In addition, "World News" is narrowing its season margin with "NBC Nightly News" in Adults 25-54 by double digits (-38% - 206,000 vs. 331,000) compared to its season margin from the same point last year. In fact, cutting its Adults 25-54 gap for the 4th consecutive season, "World News" is seeing its closest news demo performance with the NBC program in 6 years - since the 2007-08 season.

"World News" has more than doubled its Adults 25-54 lead over "CBS Evening News" versus its year-ago season lead (+104% - 375,000 vs. 184,000).

For the week, "ABC World News" beat the "CBS Evening News" by 1.103 million Total Viewers and by 417,000 Adults 25-54.
