Two double-decker buses collided today and then toppled a lamppost in New York's Times Square, all in the middle of hundreds of tourists.

"We were just about to cross the street and then this bus driver - crazy, really crazy bus driver - came at a very high speed," one woman said. "And he hit the lady standing right next to my daughter. And she flew through the air and landed right there. I pulled her back and we hit this pole and yeah, that was it."

Fourteen were injured - 11 pedestrians, including a child, and three people onboard the buses. None of the injuries were said to be life-threatening.

A tour guide on one of the buses had to be removed after her head got caught under the dashboard. Authorities said she was not badly injured.

"I was sitting on a bench, and I turned around and heard screaming, and I ran," Rose Cantillon told ABC News affiliate WABC-TV.

Bystanders swooped in to help the injured as some were carried away on stretchers.

Five city blocks were shut down during rush hour, just steps from where tourists line up for tickets to Broadway shows. Police continued to investigate the cause of the crash.

"It was scary. I was praying, hoping nobody get killed," another eyewitness said. "All I [saw] is just people laying on the ground."
