"GMA" is Delivering its Widest Season Margins Over "Today" in More Than 23 Years

ABC News' "Good Morning America" ranked No. 1 in Total Viewers (5.446 million) and Adults 25-54 (2.042 million) for the week of October 13, 2014, based on Live +Same Day Data from Nielsen Media Research. In Adults 18-49, "GMA" ran in a virtual tie with "Today" (1.479 million vs. 1.485 million) during the week with only 6,000 Adult 18-49 viewers separating the two programs, while tying in rating (1.2).

"GMA" led the No. 2-ranked "Today" (4.701 million and 1.884 million, respectively) by 745,000 Total Viewers and by 158,000 Adults 25-54. "GMA" also built on its year-ago advantages (w/o 10/14/13) over "Today" in Total Viewers (745,000 vs. 691,000) and Adults 25-54 (+158,000 vs. 8,000). "GMA" has widened its leads over "Today" year-to-year on each of the four weeks this season.

"GMA" saw week-to-week improvement (5.367 million, 1.959 million and 1.426 million, respectively, on w/o 10/5/14) in Total Viewers (+1%) , Adults 25-54 (+4%) and Adults 18-49 (+4%), hitting a season high in Adults 18-49.

"GMA" posted gains on the year-ago week (5.344 million, 1.980 million and 1.397 million, respectively, on w/o 10/14/13) across all key target demos: Total Viewers (+2%) , Adults 25-54 (+3%) and Adults 18-49 (+6%). In fact, "GMA" stood as the only morning newscast to grow in either key adult demo as both "CBS This Morning" (-10%/-14%) and NBC's "Today" (-4%/-6%) turned in losses.

Season to date, "GMA" is the No. 1 morning newscast in all key demos: Total Viewers, Adults 25-54 and Adults 18-49. "GMA" is leading NBC's "Today" by 875,000 Total Viewers, by 237,000 Adults 25-54 and 44,000 Adults 18-49. In fact, "GMA" has widened its season margins over "Today" versus the same point last season in Total Viewers by 20% (875,000 vs. 732,000) and by a significant 374% in Adults 25-54 (237,000 vs. 50,000), and is now leading "Today" in Adults 18-49 this season.

Ranking No. 1 for the 3rd straight season, "GMA" is seeing its widest season margins over "Today" in both Total Viewers and Adults 25-54 in more than 23 years - since at least the 1991-92 season (Nielsen's electronic database started on September of 1991).

During the week, "GMA" beat "CBS This Morning" in Total Viewers (+80%) , Adults 25-54 (+120%) and Adults 18-49 (+127%) .
