Obesity: The Big Picture
The rate of obese and overweight adults in the U.S. continues to hover at around 70 percent of the population, according to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.
But, as reported on ABC News for the past few weeks, the epidemic is showing some signs of slowing down.
A few weeks ago, the CDC published an analysis that found 18 states and one U.S. territory experienced a slight decline in obesity rates among preschool children from low-income families. Last week, the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation issued a report revealing obesity rates remained flat for the first time in 10 years in all states but Arkansas.
Even if obesity is not a growing problem, we are still a long way from solving it. So join us at 1 p.m. ET today as ABC News chief health and medical correspondent Dr. Richard Besser moderates "Obesity: The Big Picture," a tweet chat featuring top experts, researchers and clinicians from all across the country.
