Van Gogh's Severed Ear Recreated With Relative's DNA

A German artist has recreated a rare piece of Vincent Van Gogh: the famed artist's severed ear.
The piece, called "Sugababe" by Diemut Strebe, was engineered from tissue created with DNA from one of Van Gogh's relatives, according to the artist. Viewers can even speak into the ear, which is connected to a computer processor to translate the sound.
Van Gogh famously cut off his left ear in a reported psychotic episode.
The manufactured ear is currently on display at the Center for Art and Media in Karlsruhe, Germany. But if you can't get to Europe, the piece will be shown in New York next year.
