10,000 Free Round-Trip Tickets to Japan

gty kyoto japan jef 111011 wblog 10,000 Free Round Trip Tickets to JapanIf you’ve ever wanted to visit Japan, this may be your chance.

In a desperate attempt to lure tourists back to a country plagued by radiation fears and constant earthquakes, the Japan Tourism Agency’s proposed an unprecedented campaign – 10,000 free roundtrip tickets.

The catch is, you need to publicize your trip on blogs and social media sites.

The number of foreign visitors to Japan has dropped drastically, since a catastrophic earthquake and tsunami triggered a nuclear disaster at the Fukushima Dai-ichi Power plant in March. Nearly 20,000 people have been confirmed dead, while more than 80,000 remain displaced because of radiation concerns. In the first three months following the triple disasters, the number of foreign visitors to Japan was cut in half, compared with the same time in 2010. The strong Japanese currency has made matters worse.

The tourism agency says it plans to open a website to solicit applicants interested in the free tickets. Would- be visitors will have to detail in writing their travel plans in Japan, and explain what they hope to get out of the trip. Successful applicants would pay for their own accommodation and meals. They would also be required to write a review their travel experiences, and post it online.

“We are hoping to get highly influential blogger-types, and others who can spread the word that Japan is a safe place to visit,” said Kazuyoshi Sato, with the agency.

The agency has requested more than a billion yen to pay for the tourism blitz. If lawmakers approve the funding, Sato says visitors could begin signing up as early as next April.

I would love to go and photograph and document the rebirth of Japan. I would create a fan page and cross market my fan page with other pages on facebook that I already administer. This is part of what I already do.

I would love for the embassy to give me the opportunity.

I would visit Tokyo and points southward. I would have no problems staying far away from the disaster area up north of Tokyo. I would just sight-see the southern parts of Japan and that would make me happy for sure! Where do we sign up for the tickets???

Did any of you bother to actually read the article? If you had, you would know that you can’t sign up yet because A) They haven’t created the website and B) The funding has not yet been approved. If the funding does go through then applications may be available around April, so just keep checking for updates.

I am a travel agent and my wife and I have been discussing a trip to Japan. I was stationed outside Tokyo at Tachikawa Air Force Base and at Atsugi during the late 50′s, and loved the people and the country. We would like to visit Japan and pursue the opportunity to take other people to various parts of the country.

We were lucky enough to visit Tokyo in May after the earthquake. It was a trip that was planned before the earthquake. We made the decision to go because it was the best way to help our friends and their country recover. Although there was some minor damage to sidewalks and parking areas where the earth had rolled visible in Tokyo, we saw no major damage. I was happy to see friends and check on them first hand. Will we go again? In a minute! Free tickets would be great, but we will go again when we can afford it with or without them.

Dear fellow Australians,

Thank you very much for your interest in visiting Japan and for your keen response towards the “10,000 free tickets to Japan” news.

Recently a number of media outlets in Australia have publicised articles about this, however Japan National Tourism Organization (JNTO) has not received further information regarding this initiative from Japan Travel Agency (JTA), Japan’s Government tourism body.
If such initiative is released in the future, JNTO will promptly inform the Australian public through our website

I”m in…would love to go, documenting perhaps travels along the Hokaido road, maybe the pilgrimage around Shikoku…ah, that’s it, maybe a guide to all major pilgrimages and sacred sites! Buddhist, Shinto…yep, that would be it.

Or…no, a better idea, how about traveling the battlefields, borders and fiefdoms in 17th century Tokugawa Japan? Or maybe even classical Japan, in the Nara period.

So many opportunities!

I want to take this opportunity to see my sister and her family, her husband just died a month ago and wondering how are they are doing now. After the tsunami, I really want to go and help them but I cannot afford to go. I really wish to go and thank you in advance. I really hope the lawmakers in Japan will approve it. I hope to get reply from Akito Fujita San of ABC News Japan.

I miss him so much. He facebook’s us with his wonderful pictures of the cherry blossoms and other holidays. He tells us stories about Japan and his new found friends. It would be wonderful to supprise him in Japan. And see all the wonderful sights he has told us about. My husband Michael and I can not afford the plane tickets due to me having some medical issues, his brother Kyle and Melani his sister-in-law have had a lot of ups and down due to financial problems. It would be nice if you could provide us with more details on this.
Anyhow, I’ve been wanting to visit Japan for the past three years now, and I plan to live there eventually someday, if I can get my ordeals sorted out. I’ve always been fascinated with the culture of Japan, and it would be a wonderful experience for my little sister, as she has never traveled anywhere outside of our own state even. To share such a time with her and my mother would be something to treasure for a lifetime. Japan in general has me captivated. One place that would be amazing to visit would be Nagoya and/or Tokyo.

I would love to go to Japan and blog about it! Let me start by saying I love visiting Japan! I have been there many times and had a wonderful time, each and every time! But I think the Japanese Gov’t can go about this differently… First, they would have more visitors if they could work with the airline industry to lower the cost of a ticket. I have been looking at revisiting Tokyo this November, be the airline industry is implemented such a huge surcharge & tax on the tickets to Japan!!! For instance, I found a ticket for about $800.00 roundtrip to Tokyo… The surcharge & tax brought the price to around $1400- $1500 total!!! That disgusted me… so needless to say, I probably will not be going in November now! So, I think they should start with this issue and then move on to other ways to increase tourism!!

My wife and I worked and lived in Japan in the 90′s. We love Kyoto and Osaka because of the history and people. Tokyo is a city that never sleeps and has all the thrill and excitement of NY or LA. We love the food and have always wanted to return to the land of the rising sun. To be able to write about our trip would be the most exciting time and sharing our pictures and experience with the world would be a great honor. As Americans we need to see other cultures and none better then Japan. We could be of great service to the Japanese people at this time and help to restore the beauty of the country and the people. We are without children and would stay as long as possible to record our trip and share it with the world. I am a technologist and my wife a writer. I have been taking photographs as a hobby for over 40 years and have a great eye for beauty. We would enjoy being part of the program and can travel at any time.

My husband and I would love to visit the country of Japan. We work alot, so it is difficult to get away, but if you sent us tickets we would definitely take the time to do so, as we have put off our honeymoon from 2008.

To visit Japan would be a dream of ours, we love sushi, and noticed that during the earthquake and tsunani, the respect for each other’s property during this terrible tragedy, was inspiring to watch. There was no violence, no looting, and no riots — what a beautiful culture.

Thank you very much

Our family and I will be travelling to Japan this May to visit my fiancee’s family in Hachinohe City since we were unable to go this year. I will also be exploring the possibility of opening a branch of my business there. We will definitely spread the word because we want to help all of our family and friends there recover from the disasters. We will take plenty of pictures and videos to help in any way we can.

Are there areas you want coverage more than the rest? Please let me know whatever you are looking to get out of this so we can be most helpful! Arigatou!

Think about why it’s free.

All you idiots who didn’t even read the article but are requesting tickets should not be allowed to go. It CLEARLY says they hope to let them be available in APRIL of next year. Also, this is subject to budgetary approval, so it likely will NOT happen.

I hope they know what they’re doing. When campaigns are made like this sites crash and/or they can’t sustain the amount of people who want to participate. Look at the KFC free meal campaign with Oprah. That was a huge turn off after they couldn’t sustain the amount of people. Federal programs that offer something only to have its site crash. Look at the military trying to get their families out of Japan after the earthquake, chaos.

Organization, strategic planning and the right amount of people to handle a task like this are hopefully in order.

I hosted a student from Japan since he was 15 years of age .When he graduated he went on to the university and eventually back to Japan. we’ve kept contact to the years he is my son’s best friend. He wants us to visit him there right now. I lost my home and do not have the means to travel there that would be a surprise for him to see us and my son too. It would be the nicest gift if we were chosen to go. This is a wonderful culture, good people. I hope we could make it and bring back good memories of Japan for all to see.

At seventy six I can remember ww2. I saw how the japanese turned their county around. I saw how
they made strides to teach the american auto macfactures the art of building a better car, along with many other things. I remember seeing a news reel of war vehicle being disassembled down to the last screw, cleaned and reused in the building of a new vehicle. I saw a news reel of scrap metal being smelted in home made furnaces, along the way i saw how they transformed the Willys to the Toyota Landcruiser FJ40. which has been in use around the world and of which I am presently restoring a 1971 FJ40. I know they will turn their county around from this natural
disaster, it’s a place I have always wanted to visit. A place where the people did not cry on some elses sholder to take care of their problems, they did it on their own with determination and vigorous.

We are American born Shinto and Shingon Buddhist and our dream is to have a traditional Shinto wedding in Japan :) We would be honored to be able to take part in this awesome opportunity and know that we could help in some way and give back to a country that means so much to us :) Please contact me on how I may get more information on applying for 3 tickets.

Japan is a wonderful place, I encourage everyone to go there. The people are incredibly kind and polite, the food is amazing (some of the best Italian and French food I’ve encountered was in Japan), it’s full of history, beautiful parks, awesome architecture, exuberance and technology. I’d love to go back. However, flying there isn’t necessarily where the greatest expense is. I found the hotels to be costly, taxis are expensive and even the train from Narita to the center of Tokyo costs about $40 USD. Nevertheless, it’s well worth a visit for anyone; there’s something to do whether you’re 20 or 90 years old.

The author could have done a better job with the phrasing around the number of deaths. It sounds as though those deaths are due to the accident at the nuclear reactor site.

I have been to Japan since 1977. But only around Tokyo,Yokohama Hakone as I was with Malaysia Airlines before. Since my retirement at 60, I did not visit Japan for the last 15 years. Of course I like the place eventhough it is more than 2 time our money !! I used to go only by Malaysia Airlines but never by any Japanese Airlines. Perhaps I should try ANA travel to Japan with my wife should I get the FOC ticket ! Of course previously I used my FOC tickets on Malaysia Airlines as I was entitled for that annually…!

I have my brother and his wife who live in Japan. It is a very beautiful country and I try and go there every year! The people are very nice, the sights are breathtaking and it is one of those places you have to go before you die! My brother was born here in California and has lived on and off in Japan for the last 8 years and in no way is he worried. How many things are we exposed to that we don’t know about.? This should not be a reason to stay away from Japan. If you do, you are missing out in an amazing place and group of people! Go Nippon!

Hi,

I really had the plan to go to Japan before tsunami came. I was expecting that i will be doing personal and business trip last June2011, unfortunately radiation was still there at that time. Im still planning to go next year. I do believe that Japan can easily recover from any calamities that will happen. If this would be the chance that i can go there for free, that’s a great help for me to explore more in Japan, particularly in Tokyo.

Please send me information if i qualify for this trip. I would gladly do the requirements needed.

Thanks

I have never ben lucky enough or I guess financially stable enough to travel. We have been married 36 years. i think I have seen three of the united states. and that has been it. We never traveled our parents all were not well enough financially to take off for A trip so we did not get to go.My husbands parents were the same way they had to keep working to keep ends meting. Now we have carried on another generation of the same thing. I did .I was hurt in the factory in 1991 I think was the year. My children have both gotten a bite of what it is like to work in the factory. And have decided to further on their educatuion so they would not have to do that.My husband was permanently injured in 2002 in a factory which he was there for 25 yaers. With the hearetbreaking reality we both where going to have a fixed income for the rest of oue lives. It would be my dream to take all my family to see Japan because they will never get to see it. I do not know how they would feel like going or taking their children. I have four adorable grandkids they are 2and 4 years old and a set of twins that are 2. If nor I would take two tickets to see Japan . If I can afford room and board I hope so. This would only be my only chance. We are heavier my husband says if we ever fly we would have to have two sears each we are heavy. Maybe i/he is right.oh well it is ok to dream this would be the only way I would ever get to go to Japan.. Maybe it will just have to stay on my wish list…Thank you

I believe what my Japanese bosses and my cousin have been telling me that Japan is still a beautiful and safe country to visit.

I think this is a good and welcome strategy by the Japanese Tourism. This will help to reassure the people that Japan is safe for them to visit. I would like to be there when it is approved by the Japanese Government.

This is such a great idea for Japan to rebound from their unfortunate situation. I for one will be more than happy to help with any rebuilding effort in terms of positive publicity to booster tourism and trade in Japan. I am currently in the African continent, after a long spell schooling in the US. I believe I can help with a huge business publicity from this part of the world where Japanese trade and products has encouraged emerging markets.

Posted by: Ma. Rodelyn B. Dahuya | October 12, 2011, 6:42 am 6:42 am

This offer is very attractive and it will eventually help Japan’s economy. However, plane tickets are quite expensive if you will be coming from the other parts of the world, other than the asian countries, and this will be very expensive for the Japan government. Instead of giving away free tickets, why not donate them to those who are still displaced from this tragedy? Japan is a great country and a tourist destination. I have been to Japan and it is truly amazing! But it’s going to be such a great risk to lure people from all over the world to visit their country at this point in time. It was only recently that the major earthquake struck Japan and radiation may still be around. In time, people will just forget about the tragedy that happened and will visit again Japan sooner or later, with or without the free tickets.

Surely I will go to Japan the country that progress more than any asean country despite of any calamity that will strike to them. They remain strong, safe and very attractive rich country to visit. When the earthquake and tsunami hit, I was devistated to not be able to make it back over there for giving aid. I hope whoever does win this would not only see the sites but do what they could to help out their country. I wish everyone that enters the best of luck.

I am the American citizen and want to travel to Japan this year with my family. My friends have praised a lot about the Japanese people and its lovely places to visit.
I am interested in visiting Japan.

Posted by: Mian Saeed Muhammad Chohan | October 12, 2011, 7:43 am 7:43 am

I loved Japan! In-fact its funny I just had my breakfast a minute ago. Me and my sister talking about Japan. I am a single person and leaning into traveling and Japan is one of my choice.

People are really nice, honest and trustworthy. A short story to tell; Someone found $50.00 bill outside the Military base gate. This person turned in the $50.00 to an officer in-charge of checking ID. This would never happen anywhere else.

I have family in Japan and love to visit other friends to. But not only for this purpose why I’d like to see Japan again. I’ve lived in Japan for 4 years and my second child was born here. I visited Yokota, Yokuska, Tokyo & Atsugi & Shibukawa-shi.

So many beautiful places and things to do. Beautiful garden we visited (Mom and I), Very clean (Public restroom specially) very polite people. Once you visit the place you’ll love to learn their language. People are very hard worker, determined and helpful. They love children, embaraces their own kind, not proud of who they are instead shared on what they have.

One day I was lost (I always get lost even now) I end up in a farm of nowhere. I knocked on one of the house (the only house) they let me in to use a phone. We had a bit of conversation (though we don’t understand each other very well). They welcome me like they know me and helped me get back to the right road and get hired to teach their young child basic English and paid Y30.00/hour. How cool was that. I made lots of money in Japan cause I workd three jobs. Bank Teller, Night auditor and LTO run (Land transportation office; I bring Military new/old vehicle outside the base for registration. And people are very helpful.

Shopping is very enjoyable. People are friendly, products are well tailored, lots of great gifts to bring home. I’ve experience going into the market where salespeople doesn’t force you to buy instead assist you in a very pleaseant way.

Of all the places I’ve been {Hawaii, Japan, Philippines, Guam, CANADA (US:Seattle, Florida, NY, NJ, MD, DC, VA & TEXAS)} I’d like to see Japan again. My purpose! to see the Navy base and teach.I LOVE JAPAN! THEY ARE RESPECTFUL, HONEST, EDUCATED & TRUSTWORTHY.

Posted by: Bilajana | October 12, 2011, 8:09 am 8:09 am

I am writing this in order to help my sister .
She had always planned on visiting Japan one day to see her son and his wife but then disaster struck while they awaited the birth of their first child.

Sis would to visit Japan and see her brand new – and first- Granson- he was born 2 days after the Disaster and Mom [Japanese born] and dad [Canadian Citizen] could not get off the Island- They had to stay because of the pregnancy. Now they have decided to stay and rebuild both their lives and their communities with her family and neigbours.
They actually live in Fukashima and we got details of the happenings via email and Skype constantly.
The flood, the shaking, the radiation–all first hand accounts and also the beauty of a surviving nation.

My sister [his mom] cries nearly every day wanting to see the wee family so bad and she cannot afford it. The Japanese family wants to take her around Japan to see what they see and to experience Japanese life as they know it but their money is tight as well with the rebuilding of their own lives.

So arranging to get these tickets would be a dream come true for two families.
That is our story- short and bitter-sweet, there is so much more underlying truth and desire but that is the gist of our story

How do we enter this contest so that we may realize two sets of dreams??

On 11 March 2011 I cried in my office as my heart broke for Japan and her people. I sometimes watch keyhole tv over the internet and am constantly amazed at the inner loving strenth of Japanese people as they go forward. I am very interested in traveling to areas of the earthquake and tsunami in addition to more well known areas of Japan – Tokyo, Osaka, Nagoya, Hiroshima. I wish to pay respect to these amazing people that saved my life when I was born in Irumagawa in Occupied Japan. Please contact me concerning this exciting opportunity.

This is truly remarkable. (1) Tickets are not yet available, what would be the point of asking to sign up? (2) IF they do become available, please don’t talk about YOUR dreams in the application – they don’t care about YOUR dreams, they want to promote tourism. It’s not about what THEY can do for YOU, it’s about what YOU can do for THEM. Sharing snapshots with your Facebook peanut gallery barely qualifies as the kind of “blogging” and “documenting” they are seeking. (3) Make your own dreams come true, don’t wait for a free handout. If it has been your life-long dream, go get it. Now.

For me Japan has always been my dream destination even when i was still in high school. i would love to go there and visit Tokyo Disneyland and probably do some shopping at flee markets. i would love to see the temples in kyoto and the ever busy and fashionable Ginza District. Japan is tourist friendly destination and the nationals are very honest and hardworking.

Even if free ticket is not given to me, I would be willing to visit Japan on my own to show to the world my love for this beautiful country and solidarity with my brothers and sisters out there. FYI I have never visited Japan out of over 35 countries that I visited in past 30 years.

Wow you people are crazy!!! Why would you want to go over there?? People are still getting sick everyday from radiation poisoning…. The plants have not been fixed and are still leaking large amounts of radiation into the air…… Make sure you bring a hazmat suit!!

Its not just that the disasters are causing people to not want to go, its the prices of tickets that’s the main cause of the lack of tourist. Over the last 3 months I have been looking on expedia.com and other sites at tickets from Louisville KY or Cincinnati OH to NRT airport. One ticket was 1500+ and recently dropped down to a little over 1300 for the round trip. The ticket itself now is 700.00 (aprox) with over 600.00 in taxes and fees. That is the real problem, the cost of the ridiculous tax/fee penalty you have to pay to take a trip like this. Its a shame!

I have a penpal in Japan and would love to see her. She has been my penpal since the 7th grade when our geography teacher helped us get one. i lost touch with her right after i had gotten married and had children. i moved to where i live now and was going thru some old boxes and found the letters and pictures she had sent me. i sent the letter to her address that she had when she lived at home with her parents.some of her family members had gotten my letter and got it to her. she has three children and so do i . she has four or five grandsons and i have three grandsons and one granddaughter. i have sent her university of kentucky t shirts for her grandsons and she sent me a picture of her grandsons’ wearing them. now we communicate on the internet. I would love to meet her, it has always been so expensive i could not afford it. she lives over on the china side of japan. my son was stationed over there a little north of Tokyo about ten years ago , my brother was stationed in japan before he went to viet nam. i am now 62 years of age and would love to go before i get too old to go.

my name is Josh Case and i live in Eagle Point, Oregon. I have been fundraising to go to Japan for 4 years.. I am trying to go to Japan with my konnichiwa club because Eagle Point is sister citys with a city in Japan called Showa-Mura. We host Japanese exchange students every summer and they would like for us to go and visit them. A group from Eagle Point hasnt been able to go for 5 years and we would really apreciate it if we could go this summer. One of the free tickets would be apreciated very much.

I’ve been trying to get to Japan since Middle School 7th grade. I am a 11th grader now and have been fundraising and trying to get grants from organizations to go and it hasn’t been turning out very well. I have one more year before it is possible for me to go with 4-H or the Club I am currently in through the school. The money would be a major support for my brother and I to go! I have always admired the culture, food, animation, and history. I have hosted students from Showa Mura for two years now, and have had an amazing time showing them what Southern Oregon has to offer.

When I visited Japan in 2006 I basically did this and included my writings, pictures, and videos for the STA contest a year or two after my trip. I would love to recreate this trip that I took across Japan. I experienced such vastly different experiences from rural to urban. I slept in hotels, hostels, and inns and went out of my way to experience the local and tourist sides of such a country. Ultimately a second trip could touch on some new experiences missed the first time and the ability to revisit sites from the first and see if there is any difference. It would be nice to inform people of any changes and what kind of an impact it has on a foreign visitor. I know that in the two weeks I was there I only saw three people that spoke English: one American, one Brit, and an Aussie. For a country that was booming with local tourism they could use more international tourists, and we would be better for it as well.

My fiance Kim and I have been cycling thru Europe in hopes to make it to SE Asia. Because of lack of work in Europe we are cutting our trip short.
We would love the opportunity to detail a cycle touring route while riding through Japan. We would publicize our Journey through Facebook.com/kimandkylestravelpage twitter.com/kimandkyle and kimandkylestravels.wordpress.com as we bicycled through the gorgeous country. We would also build a detailed trip log in hopes of publishing our journey. We will eat, camp, and discover what Japan is all about in hopes that we could share the information and get more people cycle touring in Japan.

Is all-caps really necessary?

I was in Japan when the earthquake and subsequent tsunami hit. Studying and teaching in Kyoto. When the earthquake happened, I felt the small tremors and saw my clothes moving on their hangers. And I was hundreds of miles away, the length of a few U.S. states. So yes, 20,000 people were killed. That fact was accurate. Perhaps 200 people were killed by the actual earthquake, but the tsunami was what took the other thousands of lives.

I find it offensive that many people want these tickets for honeymoons, vacations, and a two-week splurge of culture. Japan is safe, as far as a tsunami-torn country can be, but what Japan needs right now isn’t a bunch of tourists getting in the way of their continued grieving. They need volunteers. They need people to help them out, go to Fukushima, and rebuild. Teach in the abandoned schools, re-establish their reputation as the #1 tourist spot, and ultimately rebuild their economy.

And their economy fell not only because of the earthquake and tsunami. The article says the travel agencies will cover the plane ticket, but not food, lodging, and other travel expenses. Do you know how expensive it is staying in Japan? The yen is worth more than the dollar right now. So of course there would be less tourists than usual. Plus, the summer’s over, which is the major travel season.

Therefore, I think everyone’s taking this the wrong way. The websites not up yet, the tickets haven’t been approved by Japan’s travel agencies, and your attitudes are all wrong. Kudos to the people who actually have family over there and want to help them. I tip my hat to anyone who gives a damn about the Japanese people and their country. Everyone else, you need to recheck your superficiality lens and clean it.

Please tell me more about this. I am very passionate about traveling to Japan, and this would be the opportunity of a lifetime for me. Our small School has an exchange program with a small town in Japan. Each year, about 10 students and teachers from our community travels to Hizen, Japan for 10-12 days of intense cultural learning. In March, the Japanese students and teachers come to Texas. it would be awesome if just once, our children and families could get “free” travel for the exchange program.
Our communities are mirrored…we have a nuclear plant, they have a nuclear plant…we have rice farming, they have rice farming….we have fishing and shrimping, they have fishing ….we are rural and small, they are rural and small!!! It has been an exchange covering almost 10 consecutive years. We have been unable to travel the last 2 summers because of gas prices and the economic conditions for our families here. As we ourselves live near and nuclear plant and many of our families rely on the jobs the nuclear plant provides, we really aren’t too concerned about radiation. Most of us know that family members have to be monitored etc at work and we understand limitations concerning nuclear energy exposure. Japan and the people of Japan have become our close friends. Through the internet and cyberspace we have continuous updates on how things are going in their country. We stay in their homes and they stay in our homes as we have a chance to visit each year. Sometimes teachers come with the Japanese students, but March 2011, Government officials came to see TEXAS and experience a good down home way of life. PLEASE……PLEASE…. if you can possibly allow 10-15 free round trip tickets for kids along the Gulf Coast of Texas to travel to Japan we would be so grateful. While in Japan we visit schools in Karatsu, Hizen, …we sit in on the classrooms and tell about American and Texas culture, we become family members, we cook TEXMEX food and line dance, and share what it is to be who we are. At the same time, we get to see local temples, shrines, schools, and t ravel with families as if we belong to them!!!

I was really impressed in a positive way when I arrive at Nakita airport in Japan 4 years ago, when I went for a visit in Okinawa. Every were we went, in or out of town was clean, it made a great impression on me, for I could feel that the japanese have a great sense of pride in their country; it really makes me want to visit mainland Japan.
I also felt a great sense of security, seeing kids in the streets walking alone even after sunset. I also want to encourage my family to visit the country and learn more about the japanese culture.
Please let me know how to get a free ticket.

this is it, this is really, really, really it…japan is part of my life…..I haven’t been to every city in Japan, but I’d say maybe Kyoto or Nara because they’re both packed with very nice temples and shrines. Kyoto’s got a lot more, but Nara is older and has more of an earthy feel.
I’m sure there are some cities in Japan that I haven’t seen that are quite beautiful. There must be some that are all-around attractive For example in Kyoto and Nara, there are still the typical Japanese city areas. If you were downtown Kyoto, you might not be able to distinguish much different from another large city. You have to get out to the temples and shrines.

If you were downtown Kyoto, you might not be able to distinguish much different from another large city. You have to get out to the temples and shrines.

I wish I would have immediately written this when I first saw it on the news but my work place has consumed me. My husband & I work about 80-90 hours per week in South Florida. Before I moved here, I skied competitively for majority of my life, training on snow over 100 days per season. As a former racer, I had always been infatuated with the thought of skiing in Japan. The Japanese culture has always intrigued me (along with the food). My husband is a huge techie so he naturally has always wanted to visit Japan as well. Once a year, he & I do get to take a week to go on a skiing vacation. I could think of nothing more amazing than being privileged enough to get to take that trip to Japan. As of now, the furthest that we’ve skied from home is Argentina. (Another bucket list goal of mine is to ski on all of the continents). Skiing in Japan would be a dream come true. If these free tickets are still available, we would love to receive them. I’m not sure if this is how we go about doing it but I figured it would be worth a shot. We would be exceptional candidates to receive them since I can guarantee that we will spend money when we are there. We will verbally tell our clientele about the amazing experience & we will post many facebook pictures. Thank you for considering this request. If I must submit it to a different location, please notify me. Arigatou!!!

I am interested in visiting Japan and learning their unique culture. My retired Naval brother was stationed there while serving our country and i have always been curious about that place on the globe. While there, i would like to visit some of the ancient temples and hopefully share my testimony of Jesus Christ while there. This would be a great opportunity for our youth at church to explore another culture and familiarize our culture with theirs.

This would be the perfect opportunity for me! I have a couple of friends whose parents live in Japan, and a couple who teach English there…they could help me navigate the country, and I am an avid “shutterbug”! I am in the energy industry, and would love to share the experience with all my friends, family, and colleagues! Pick me!

I’ve been wanting to go to Japan for over 6 years. I was first learning about it when my mom got into bands that were from there. Bands such as Pierrot, The GazettE, Dir En Grey, and Nightmare. She started buying books about Japan, Japanese to English dictionaries (which contained romanji and katakana), and even a Japanese tea set! I’ve studied Japan quite a bit, so I made a goal about a year after discovering it: To go there someday. I even learned that there are hotels called Capsule hotels where everyone has their one suite that contains a radio, a TV, and a bed (That’s all I know about the contents of the suites). I also know that a lot of fame was born in Japan. Many mangaka, singers, bands (as I stated previously), and actors are from Japan.
I, myself, have made myself quite fluent in the Japanese language. So much that I get annoyed when someone pronounces a word wrong. However, there’s still many words I have yet to learn. Still, I’m smarter than mom is when it comes to that subject. I’m also becoming exceedingly well at writing kanji and katakana. I am even accustomed to the taste of sushi. Speaking of, my mom always used to fix us sushi and beef dumplings a few years ago, and she did a superb job. Basicly speaking, I learned a lot about Japan. That’s why I would very much like to go there.

As for what I plan to do while I’m there, well… I want to see what it all looks like in person. I ‘d like to see what all Japan holds besides its famous people and foods. I’m one of the people who consider Japan to be one of the best countries in the world. I’d like to purchase souvenirs like books, CDs or DVDs while I’m there. I may even get something for my brother or mom. I have a laptop and a video camera, so while I’m in Japan, I can document each morning and evening that I’m there.
If I’m able to be in Shibuya as well, I would take a picture of the statue of Hachiko that’s in front of the train station. I’d also, while I’m in Shibuya, possibly visit a person that I truely admire, Yukito Nishii. That is, if he isn’t busy with a photo shoot. I’ve done a lot of research on him. Anyway, I’d also like to see if they fix burgers in Japan like they do in America. I think it might actually taste better there. I’ve never been out of America, so it’ll be a whole new adventure and experience for me. That being said, I’m rather excited.

Gojira! Hai! I’d love to go to Japan and see for myself, what I and my country could do more to help them after horror struck in 2011. They deserve better than that. If the horror they’ve faced struck Europe or the USA, it would be considered the ‘catastrophe of the decade’ .. To Japan this is as it is.
Sign me up, port me through, I’ll go on that trip and write what I can, that I see, think,. hear, experience, witness, to report back to all of you what we might’ve missed while focussing on the ‘other’ picture.

I am going to try and win a ticket, but I just don’t understand how so many people have “wanted so badly” to go Japan, but haven’t yet made it happen for themselves. I’ve always wanted to visit Japan and finally said to myself, “It’s now or never” so I went a few years ago and had the time of my life. If you don’t win a free ticket, put some money away little by little and go see Japan for yourself anyway. If you want to see it as badly as you say you do, you can make it happen!

Japan is such an amazing place. My teacher says its beautiful and the sites, places and people are wonderful. I would very much like to experience and be apart of Japans wonderful culture. Next year i am going to Japan through our April school holidays with my school. I study japanese and the chance to experience and be apart of everyday japanese life will benefit my studies further. I hope to pursue japanese as a course in university. The ability to speak fluently in any language would be amazing, but to speak fluently and interact with the people of japan would change my life. However the trip will cost around three thousand dollars just for a return flight. Im 16 and trying to raise the money my self. My friend Abbey Thompson and i have also arranged for a sausage sizzle in the hope to raise money. WE will be flying with singapore airlines and this free ticket will help us be able to visit japan. If its possible i would like the free ticket to correspond to when our school goes.

my unforgettable experience in japan when i first visited japan were plenty.i felt warmth welcome from the people of japan.the immigration officers were so nice and very accommodating.
when i claim my baggage it was so fast.service was so efficient, after i claimed my baggage,i rushed to the door of narita airport and felt the fresh air of japan.,im so excited i turned around and saw many things i have not seen before.i felt the warmth welcome and friendly smile of every japanese that i met.from narita airport i did not know what to do or how to go to osaka via train.I saw a foreigner and smiled at him and he responded with a smile also and asked how could get a train to osaka. He was so friendly he bought my ticket and guided me to the train station. He is an american gin.
Another memorable experience in japan was i met so many friends, japanese koreans, filipinos and other nationalities. They were so friendly and hospitable.Until now we are still communicating with each other, because after 10 months i have to go back to mmy own country, the Philippines
When i saw the tragedy in japan on television during tsunami i felt bad al;most cried because in some parts of japan where calamity happened some of my friends are living there.I also experienced earthquake when i was there, but still the strong desire to go back is still very intense because i would like to meet my friends again and would like to see the changes after it was hit by the tsunami.
For the above reasons and many more, I would like to go back to Japan if only i have the chance to see again my friends and most of all to see Japan again.
It is a big dream for me which i see its fulfillment through your office.Thank you for fascinating my trip to your country.Perhaps a free ticket will be mot welcomed and again ,i would like to tell you that i am so eager and excited to go back .God willing

I grew up in a house where japanese students would stay during the summer. my mother went there for two years when she was young. I’ve only ever been to japan once before for a few weeks, about a year before the wave hit. I love the culture, i love the food and the atmosphere, and i love the poetic history of the people. If i could get one of those trips i would cherish every moment spent there. i can’t afford the ticket, but i could save and pay for a small hotel room and buy plenty of things to bring home. I’d shout it to the whole world of how wonderful that country is if i could get one ticket.

I’d like to walk and cycle the Tokaido with a friend. My friend has studied pottery with Shiga Shigeo renown Japanese potter who worked and taught in Australia. Ian Clare {student of Shiga sensei and social media savvy} and I have recently given a tea ceremony for over a hundred Australian Primary school students, parents and staff. Ian has always wanted to visit Japan whilst his teacher was still alive and I’m sure he would also like to trace some of his Master’s footsteps. This is my wish. A gift within a gift. Thankyou. I really would like to visit Japan because of the wonderful cultures and the beautiful people, beliefs, way of life, and to experience and get a feel of what they go through in everyday life to survive. My mother recently passed away in February of 2011 from cancer and that was a wake up call to want to experience and see as much as I can in every part of the world,to get tickets for this trip would be an amazing and appreciated gift from above an also a very exciting chance to open up the opportunity in finding who I am and where I want to place myself in this world. I love Japan and their style Japan is awesome!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I don’t care if people think its a scary place or not safe to be around but I think it’s amazing and beautiful and a great escape to finding me and showing everyone that it is not a scary place to be it is harmless it is like living in every other place in the world everywhere has natural disasters mother nature just strikes this one hard sometimes. Japan is awesome and I hope that I will qualify for this round trip ticket to explore the world in a reasonable way. Thank you.

Dear Sir,
Some years ago, I had business trip at Nagano, Japan about 3 months.
During that time, I visit somewhere with my friends. By the way, Japan will give 10,000 free air tickets for coming Japan, I wish that I and my friends will come to Japan in this time and visit some where. It would be nice to win a trip there and take the opportunity to visit all the areas around Japan. The only thing that’s been stopping me is travelling expenses, if the ticket was paid for then I’d be set! I come from a pretty small town, so visiting the big cities and just walking around sounds pretty exciting. Visiting Ikebukuro, Tokyo, Osaka, and of course Akihabara are on the top of the places to visit, and if I could I’d stay at a hotel close to Shibuya (since it’s the shopping district and all)

What an opportunity! My school had already planned to go to Japan, and this would help us tremendously! All of us, being in high school and the age of beginning to work, have to pay for it ourselves, so it’s a real journey leading up to the trip itself! This ticket would help us financially in ways we couldn’t imagine! We could travel to different areas in Japan, like Kyoto or Akita!

I truely wish to help Japan in any way possible, I feel as though Japan is the only place for me to fit in and just be me. I was truely hurt by tthe Japan disaster, and convinced my school to do a fundraiser included fundraisers I had done on my own. I love Japan and everything about the disaster damaged me as much as it damaged Japan, I wish to document the recovery and will do all in ym power to help it the only thing stopping me is financial misfortune. I will go as many times as I need to to help raise Japan to glory.

I used to live in Japan in sixties and fell in love with people food and culture. Now I am a reader writer and speaker in Dallas Texas and wish to do anything or every thing for Japan. It is my passion and love to visit Japan and write articles so tourist can start flowing into the country.

I had concentrated treatmnt in April 2011 and had little side effects and now they are gone.
