Katy Perry Learns to Cook for $50,000
Singer Katy Perry forked over $50,000 for cooking lessons from chef Cat Cora at Elton John's 20th Annual AIDS Foundation Academy Awards viewing party this past Sunday.
The 27-year-old singer entered into a bidding war with NY Giants co-owner Steve Tisch at The City of West Hollywood Park in Beverly Hills, US Weekly reported.
An attendee told the magazine, "Neil Patrick Harris was beat boxing while chef Cat Cora and David Burka sang [Snoop Dogg's] 'Drop It Like It's Hot' to sell a cooking experience during the auction."
Perry's $50,000 offer was initially outbid by Tisch who increased the price to $80,000.
"Katy emptied her purse out jokingly for the cameras before she and Steve agreed to share the prize for $100,000," the attendee said, "Katy got up and hugged him delightedly. She seemed a bit tipsy, but not messy at all."
For $50,000, Perry could have spent two years taking classes at the Culinary Institute of America in Hyde Park, Ny, the school where chef Cora received her culinary education.
The recently-single "Firework" singer split with Russell Brand, 36, in December. Photos were published this weekend showing Brand and rumored new girlfriend Oriela Medellin Amieiro.
