The new-this-year Viceroy Riviera Maya on the Mexican coast is offering a 50 percent off deal with freebies during a just-announced 48-hour sale.

The property was previously the Tides Riviera Maya.

The all-villa hotel is small compared to many of the mega-resorts that dot the beaches south of Cancun. It has just 41 villas spread over six acres. Each villa has a private plunge pool, patio and outdoor shower.

The resort is on Mexico's Yucatan Peninsula 40 miles south of Cancun International Airport. It's three miles from Playa del Carmen.

Rates typically start at $600 per night and up, but with this limited-time sale, rates start at just $305 per night. In addition to the reduced rates, the deal also includes complimentary breakfast for two daily and a $100 resort credit that may be used at the resort's restaurants and spa.

The resort gets a 4.5-star rating from customers on TripAdvisor.

The deal must be booked on Sept. 18 or 19 and travel must take place between Sept. 18 and Dec. 24, 2012.
