A 1-year-old California girl trying to take a nap got an unexpected bath from her family's pet cat instead.

The adorable moment was caught on camera by Dennis and Jen Wijnker, the parents of Hazel, the 1-year-old girl, and Hoover, the cat.

"When she goes to bed, she snuggles with us and puts her head on us and I think she was trying to do the same with the kitty," Dennis Wijnker told GoodMorningAmerica.com of his daughter.

"She put her head on him, and Hoover just started licking her," Wijnker said. "It lasted just a few minutes and we were watching and said, 'We need to capture that on video because it's pretty cute.'"

The Wijnkers, of Costa Mesa, Calif., posted the video to YouTube to share with Hazel's grandparents in Holland and other family and friends. The video has quickly racked up nearly 50,000 views since Monday.

Wijnker says he was not surprised to see his daughter and cat snuggling together, considering Hazel loves animals and Hoover is the "snuggliest" of the family's three pet cats.

"Hazel really likes all animals and gets excited and calls out to them and pets them and gives them kisses," he said. "And Hoover is an indoor cat who has had all his vaccinations, and they love to play together when we're all together."
