Spring In! Fashion Trends That Go From Work to Weekend

Thursday is the official start of spring, and thoughts will turn to the freshest trends in the fashion industry.

Lucky magazine's editor-in-chief, Eva Chen, appeared on "Good Morning America" today to share her favorite trends for the season, giving her insight in how to take the looks from work to fun.

The Trend: Pastels Pastels appeared in many runway shows, including Burberry, Prabal Gurung, Dior, Wes Gordon and Armani, Chen said. They work well for shorts in the office. For work, ladylike shorts in sweet colors are balanced out by a crisp button-down shirt. And for the weekend, a pastel shorts suit is a smart way to dress up shorts. You can even pair it with trendy metallic sport sneakers or sandals and wear the look to dinner.

The Trend: Varsity Look

This sporty look - spotted on runway shows including DKNY, Prada, Marc by Marc and Tommy Hilfiger - has received a glam makeover in luxe fabrics and sexy cuts, along with detailing reminiscent of high school homecoming. For the office, wear a varsity-inspired dress with a sporty white blazer and classic single-sole pumps. The effect is techy and cool, but still feminine and office-appropriate. For the weekend version, pair the garment with an athletic-inspired clutch and sneakers, but tone down the overall sportswear vibe with a relaxed military-inspired jacket.

The Trend: The Shirt Dress

The look was seen at runway shows including BCBG, Donna Karan, Balenciaga and Band of Outsiders, Chen said. The shirt dress is tomboyish and sexy at the same time. It's clean, chic, universally flattering and versatile. Keep it classic for work. Belted at the waist and worn with heels, it's a staple that's very appropriate. On the weekends, pair it with a denim jacket and saddle leather sandals for a boho chic vibe. A shirt dress also makes a great cover-up at the beach.
