That didn't seem to bother Rachel Adams and her husband, Alex Howard, however.

"We never got good wedding photos or family photos so this was our way to make up for it in one shoot," Adams, of Bellingham, Washington, told ABC News.

Fortunately, the fun-loving couple did manage to get a few decent, clean shots before breaking into all out mud fight with their kids at Bellingham Bay.

"They were running around and throwing mud and just having a great time," said the photographer, Aaron Nelson, of Evantide Photography.

"We finally got a family photo that represents us," Adams wrote when posting the photo to social media.

No reports of how the family plans to top this mess for their holiday photos.
