Having a Baby Girl Means...

I love my baby boy. I’d love 10 more baby boys just like him. Okay, maybe just two more, lol, but you know what I mean. I wouldn’t trade him for the entire world.

When I got pregnant with baby #2, I told myself it would be another boy. Great! But really… deep down… I was hoping for a girl. Then we’d have one of each, the best of both worlds.

So when we found out last week that this lil baby is in fact a baby girl, I couldn’t believe it. It was definitely the best moment of this pregnancy so far and there are a good number of reasons why:

~My husband is going to have a “daddy’s girl.” I know it already–he’s so good with Ryan and I know this baby girl will be his princess. I’m excited for him… I already have my “mama’s boy”

~Ryan gets a sister!!! He’s the sweetest, kindest and most caring little boy ever and he’s going to love his baby sister.

~I might get a baby that looks like me?! Ryan looks like his daddy.

~My husband gets to walk his daughter down the aisle and I get to be the crazy “mother-of-the-bride.”

~One day, if she chooses to have kids, I’ll get to watch her grow a baby… have a baby… nurse a baby… and be a mama.

~My mom is my best friend and I want a relationship like ours with a daughter of my own. (Not saying Ryan won’t be my best friend too–he absolutely will be–but I think there’s a different sort of bond between mother and daughter, just as there is with mother and son.)

~I get to fulfill my desire to buy things that are pink and ruffly. Ryan does own a couple of pink diapers… and dolls and baking stuff…. but now I’ll go crazy with ruffles.

Now I need to make Ryan his own list of “why BABY BOYS are awesome” because he certainly gets a number of his own, too! We can’t wait for our family of four with one baby boy and one baby girl
