Presidents Obama and Clinton Play Golf
ABC News’ Tahman Bradley (@tahmanbradley) Reports:
Despite soggy grass, President Obama hit the golf course today with former President Bill Clinton.
It’s the first time that the two have played golf together since Obama became president. Obama chose Joint Base Andrews in Maryland — his usual golf spot — for the outing with the former president. The area in and around the nation’s capital experienced heavy rain Friday, but that didn’t stop the president from doing his usual weekend routine.
The outing with the former president could stoke speculation about whether Obama wants Clinton’s help pushing his $447 billion jobs plan. Last December, when Obama wanted to push for a tax cut compromise, he brought former Clinton with him into the press briefing room at the White House. After brief remarks, Obama left for a holiday party, and Clinton, in a surprise move, took over the briefing.
Will Clinton once again be used as Obama’s closer?
Obama addressed former Clinton’s annual global initiative Wednesday in New York.

I wonder how many times he said pass this bill during the round?
Maybe Clinton gave him some advice on how to actually get a democrat to introduce the bill sometime. Hard to blame republicans for not passing a bill that even democrats won’t touch.

Jackie, reinventing economics terminology is one, if not the only one, great achievement of the Obama regime. Pray provide a definition, from a reliable economics source, of “saved jobs”, and a methodology of how to measure this macroeconomic “indicator”. Repeating this nonsense 10,000 times will not furnish it with any validity or credibility

Oh sure, cutting payroll taxes in half for 160 million ordinary American workers is ‘ripping off the middle class’.
Republicans call for corporate tax breaks almost every day. It’s ironic how they sit on their hands when it comes to small business and middle class tax breaks. Americans better start paying close attention to who’s on the American peoples side and who’s only on the side of multi-national corporations and the super rich. When GOP politicians inject the term “the American people”, they are only talking about corporate America and the very wealthy. They fight against employee rights, employee benefits and anything that may help employees and mom and pop businesses. They don’t care about true small business otherwise they would have voted for the bill in 2010 that was a loan bill specifically FOR SMALL BUSINESS!! They ALL voted against it! Don’t you get it?? The GOP are in the pockets of people like the Koch brothers. Joe the plumber need not apply!!

Posted by: Jack | September 25, 2011, 12:51 am 12:51 am
Jack,
You’re making a good point, but not the one you think you are making. Taking even the most generous estimate (CBO’s naturally), that’s $218K per job. Not exactly sound fiscal policy. Ignoring the CBO’s high-end number and going with the slightly less exaggerated estimate you cite of rougly 2.5 million, that’s $314K per job.
I don’t know what “bigots” has to do with your point. While you possess a self-proclaimed ability to perceive bigotry in others’ online comments, that doesn’t seem to indicate you can perform basic math or have the cognitive ability to recognize why people might have a problem with this kind of spending or persistent 9% unemployment.

No, the CEO for Solyndra for wasn’t a major bundler for Obama.
George Kaiser, which was a major investor in Solyndra was. Obama had at least one campaign stop in Kaiser’s home in Tulsa, OK in 2007. Kaiser also had access to the White House during the health care talks that industry insiders had, boasted of his access to ARRA (failed stimulus) funds and lobbied extensively for the loan and its subsequent restructuring that is under fire now.

Depending on which estimates you use from Obama’s own Council of Economic Advisors (CEA), the “stimulus” cost taxpayers anywhere between $185,000 and $278,000 per job. It’s proof that the government is extremely inefficient and costly to taxpayers.
The stimulus wasn’t a stimulus at all. It was a slush fund primarily designed to reward union employees so that their union dues would continue to flow to Democrats. Many of those jobs were only temporarily sustained.
It would have been much more effective and cheaper for federal income taxes to be suspended from all paychecks for six months. That would have been a true stimulus across the board, across all job types. But that wouldn’t have rewarded just Democratic constituencies, right? Instead, hundreds of billions of dollars were wasted, our economy is getting worse, our labor force has shrunk, and we’re in MUCH deeper debt now.

Chuck, you obviously don’t have a clue what you are talking about. Not a clue. HALF the stimulus was tax breaks and credits. Things that Republicans drool over. Where is your proof of this ‘slush fund for union people’? It never ceases to amaze me how much those on the Right are willing to LIE in order to make some sort of point……….

LOL! … and what kind of jobs were “sold to China”? ANSWER: Manufacturing.
Now, let’s see which presidents actually sold U.S. Manufacturing jobs to China…
CARTER Years, January ’77 to January ’81:
START (Jan ’77) BLS Data on # of U.S. Manufacturing jobs = 17,803,000
END (Jan ’81) BLS Data on # of U.S. Manufacturing jobs = 18,639,000
NET GAIN in ‘MADE IN AMERICA’ Manufacturing jobs during Carter Years = +836,000 jobs.

NET LOSS in ‘MADE IN AMERICA’ Manufacturing jobs during Bush # 1 Years = -1,266,000 jobs.
LOL! …. “1.3 million ‘MADE IN AMERICA’ manufacturing jobs lost under Bush # 1″
TOTAL LOSSES OF U.S. ‘MADE IN AMERICA’ JOBS UNDER REAGAN (582,000) + BUSH # 1 (1,266,000) = 1,848,000 (“1.8 million manufacturing jobs”) lost under these two Republicans.
CLINTON Years, January ’93 to January ’01:
START (Jan ’93) BLS Data on # of U.S. Manufacturing jobs = 16,791,000
