She wanted to stay behind an extra day on Martha’s Vineyard when the Pres had to cut his vacation short by one day (btw, big deal) because of the hurricane at taxpayers expense and flew there a few hours earlier than the Pres at taxpapers expense –this is a major PR move –it makes me gag!

Question, some of you ( I am assuming republicans) never questioned bush and his family when they had all of bush’s family members one time on board Air Force One and taking them to Marthas Vineyard, why is that???? but if the First Lady goes shopping with her own money I am sure, them you all have a fit! I think it is time that some of you get over it!!!! I shop at Target sometimes. Probably 90-95% of my neighbors occasionally shop at Target. So why does it upset some of you that the First Lady makes a trip to Target? In the disdain some call it a PR trick, some call it a stunt in a depressed economy and some whose dislike of the Obamas is equal to or greater than some folks’ dislike of the Bushs go to great lengths to make their displeasure known. One simple historical perspective: the First Ladies of this land are not witches we burn at the stake after a brief trial at Salem – they have been as varied as the mothers, sisters and wives as we are across this land. Some couldn’t boil water and some had educations we hope all our children aspire to. Some set fashion trends worldwide and some had two or three “appearances” and nothing more. Some never bought a potato after arriving at the White House and some even shopped at Target before and after arrival there. Personally, I’d rather have a First Lady know what the prices are at Target than one who only knows that they are at Lord and Taylor. No harm in that.

Wow… if a white person wears those same clothes, they’d be just an average person wearing average clothes, a black woman wears the same clothes and they’re immediately “ghetto”?? And you probably see nothing racist about your comments. This country is sad.

She doesn’t have to buy everything for her girls at high end stores. Why would you presume she does?

If you are surprised by a first lady shopping then you haven’t been following the last few presidencies. I swear it is because it is Target instead of some boutique or fancy store that people doubt this.

Howling about expensive sneakers and handbags, then sneering that it’s not “classy” to shop like the rest of Americans. Is it hard to see the monitor through that sheet?

The sad part is it’s never just sensible logic and possibilities with the Republican right; it’s all presumption, attack and smear. I think America is getting very tired of the Republican political approach. Very tired of it.

Big deal, George HW was known to go to Sears. Presidents and first ladies are people too and Americans. They have a right to go shopping or out to dinner just like the rest of us. Of course most of us don’t have the Secret Service protecting our cars from shopping carts while we’re inside.

To those that have an issue with the first lady shopping at Target because it is filled with goods from China- I suppose you dont shop there or Walmart or Kmart either. Bachmann. Her name is Bachmann. I have called my Congressman. I requested he NOT vote for Obama’s jobs bill. It is nothing more than continuing payoff for his campaign supporters. We spent double that the last time and unemployment contiued to soar. Until Obama’s DOE, DOJ, NLRB, and HHS are reigned in, companies are not going to hire. So, call your President.

Michelle Obama just had to get out to Target to do a little shopping last week. But, before the shopping run the White House tipped off AP photographer Charles Dharapak so that he would be at the store to memorialize the moment.

At least she wore a shirt that is reportedly from Old Navy(?) and not a designer T-shirt like she wears out when she paints community centers.
