The Presidential Planner: Obama Rolls Through Virginia
President Obama will spend the third and final day of his three-day American Jobs Act bus tour in Virginia today, continuing to call on Congress to pass portions of the $447 billion bill.
The first lady will make her first appearance on the tour later this morning at Joint Base Langley-Eustis in Hampton, Va., at an event intended to highlight how the American Jobs Act would help veterans re-enter the workforce.
Michelle Obama will unveil a commitment by the American Logistics Association – a trade group of 270 private companies – to hire 25,000 veterans and their spouses by the end of 2013.
The president will deliver remarks later this afternoon at Fire Station 9 in North Chesterfield, Va., where he is expected to call on Congress to act on a $35 billion provision in his jobs bill that would provide funding for states for teachers and first responders.
The president will return to the White House later today.
