He’s served in the House of Representatives, two terms in the White House and is now the Mayor of Chicago, but when asked if he’s thinking about a 2016 presidential run Rahm Emanuel said absolutely not.

“Never! Not a chance. Greatest job with the greatest people in the greatest city is right here,” he said in an interview with ABC News.

It was a stronger statement than what he said back in June, telling me “I got a job to do here and that’s all I’m focused on…You know my wife. No.”

Emanuel echoed Democratic talking points, telling ABC News that the Republican presidential candidates aren’t “talking about America’s future.”

“I think that the Republican Party right now is all of the policies are about the past. We’ve been there, done that and it broke America.  And it’s just a rehash of the past,” he said.

The Mayor argued that his former boss has “stabilized” the situation and has a plan to grow the economy.  But despite the country’s economic woes, does Emanuel agree that President Obama is an “underdog” in 2012?

“Well that’s what he sees himself as…I think that’s a right mindset to be tough disciplined and focused to scrap for every vote…to make a case to the American people of what it takes to build a future and why his agenda for American future is the right one,” he said.
