Redheads Fired Up on Twitter: Donald Trump and Lawrence O’Donnell Spar Over T-Paw, Trump’s Hair
Two celebrity redheads kicked off a fiery spat over Twitter this afternoon.
No, it wasn’t Debra Messing and Lindsay Lohan (the latter went blond back in April). MSNBC’s Lawrence O’Donnell and Donald Trump, who has met with just about every Republican presidential candidate, exchanged a total of 12 heated tweets in the course of three hours.
The fight kicked off when Trump, seemingly unprovoked, sent out this message via TweetDeck, “Last year @Lawrence strongly predicted that @TimPawlenty would be the Republican nominee - @Lawrence is a total loser who is killing the MSNBC brand. He is begging me to be on his show. I am his only hope – @oreillyfactor killed him.”
O’Donnell shot back with, “ @realDonaldTrump What else did I predict? Something about u? Like the exact day u would reveal that u were not running. That was so easy.”
Next, Trump called O’Donnell “a loser that will soon be off the air.” Things got hairy after that, with the political pundit aiming a shot at Trump’s coif.
Trump defended his locks, saying, “ @Lawrence Yes, great hair, and it’s actually mine.”
True to his show’s title, “The Last Word with Lawrence O’Donnell,” the political analyst ended the exchange with, @realDonaldTrump I had over million viewers Fri, double @cnn audience, 2nd only to @oreillyfactor who has always been 8pm ratings king.
What prompted Trump’s original lashing out, and what’s to come of this Twitter kerfuffle? Hopefully not much. It’s likely just an attention-getting tactic on both sides of the Internet. Former presidential candidate Tim Pawlenty, though used to introduce Trump’s attack, never actually entered the fray. But if it’s any indication of the tone this election season will take, we should all bunker down and watch out for tumultuous tweets.
