Rick Perry Flubs Voting Age and Election Date
MANCHESTER, N.H. – Rick Perry made two mini-gaffes today in the same sentence when he suggested the voting age was 21 and erred on the date of the election.
“Those of you that will be 21 by November the 12th, I ask for your support and your vote. Those of you that won’t be, just work hard,” Perry said at a town hall at the New Hampshire Institute of Politics at St. Anselm’s.
But in 1971, the 26th amendment lowered the voting age from 21 to 18.
And as far as the election goes, Perry missed the date by nearly a full week. Voters across this country will cast their ballots for president on Nov. 6, 2012.
