Newt Gingrich ‘Ignorant,’ ‘Racist’ Say Palestinians

Republican Presidential hopeful Newt Gingrich has been slammed by Palestinians for telling a Jewish television channel that they are an “invented” people.
“These are extremely trivial, demeaning and ridiculous remarks,” Prime Minister Salam Fayyad said, according to the Ma’an News Agency . “Even the most extremist settlers of Israel wouldn’t talk in such a ridiculous way.”
“Ignorant” and “despicable” were also used by top Palestinian officials to describe Gingrich’s comments.
“This is the lowest point of thinking anyone can reach,” said lead negotiator Saeb Erekat. The comments only “increase the cycle of violence.”
Gingrich told the Jewish Channel that Palestinians are “invented” because there has been no state of Palestine.
“I think that we’ve had an invented Palestinian people who are in fact Arabs, and who were historically part of the Arab community,” said Gingrich. “And they had a chance to go many places, and for a variety of political reasons we have sustained this war against Israel now since the 1940s, and it’s tragic.”
The land of Israel and the Palestinian territories was part of the Ottoman Empire before being taken over by Great Britain. Mandated Palestine, as it was known, was then partitioned by the United Nations in 1947.
Gingrich went on to call the Israeli-Palestinian peace process “delusional” and that President Barack Obama’s treatment of Palestinians is “favoring the terrorists.”
Gingrich’s argument is regularly made and far from new.
In 1969, former Israeli Prime Minister Golda Meir said “There is no such thing as a Palestinian people… It is not as if we came and threw them out and took their country. They didn’t exist.”
“This proves that in the hysterical atmosphere of American elections, people lose all touch with reality and make not just irresponsible and dangerous statements, but also very racist comments that betray not just their own ignorance but an unforgivable bias,” said top Palestinian Liberation Organization official Hanan Ashrawi.
Gingrich spokesman R.C. Hammond released the following statement today in response to the Jewish Channel interview:
“Newt Gingrich supports a negotiated peace agreement between Israel and the Palestinians, which will necessarily include agreement between Israel and the Palestinians over the borders of a Palestinian state,” the statement said. “However, to understand what is being proposed and negotiated you have to understand decades of complex history, which is exactly what Gingrich was referencing during the recent interview with The Jewish Channel. “

Newt, the historian, probably is ignorant of the region mentioned by Herodotus as surrounding the Dead Sea. But of course to Newt that would be an inconvenient truth. It always much easier to make up history to fit your politics.
By the way, under his definition, Americans are also an “invented” people.

David, pull up your pants…your ignunce is showing. The region you are referring to, mentioned by Herodotus was the land of the Sea People who were the Phoenicians who migrated there, and if my memory serves me correctly…they were never the “State of Palestine”. There never was a “State of Palestine”, go ask the U.N.
Now, as for the Palestinians calling anybody prejudiced, that is the height of hypocrisy. They sing lullabies to their babies full of hate for Israel.

well, this should give anyone pause who may have had the slightest inclination to vote for this lunatic. this is a real smooth move – disregarding an ancient population as “invented” just because you don’t understand or accept where they come from and you want to make brownie points with israel and their supporters who vote. imagine, if you will, newt in the white house. how long do you think before he starts reinventing the world?

Gingrich was right; the Palestinians are simply Arabs. He was also right in that they WANT to be victims so they can perpetuate constant war. Saudi could have taken the “refugees” in decades ago but didn’t. Syria, Egypt, and Lebanon could have also absorbed the “refugees” but refuse. Why? Because the Arab people will never stop until every last Jew has been killed and they need a victim (Palestinians) so their crusades will be seen as moral.

“They sing lullabies to their babies full of hate for Israel.”——————-Read the Bible , the Jews have proselytized their hatred and contempt of anything non-Jew for ages via that book . The still don’t recognize the New Testament ( i.e. love thy neighbor ) even today . Also, the Jews committed genocide against the Palestinians in Old Testament more than once (killing every living thing ) and stole their land even then because “God” told them they could / should , and today they glorify that theft as part of their national heritage , unlike say England , who try to sweep ugly things like Avignon under the rug and forget about them , letting time heal old wounds . No, the Zionists want to keep ripping off the healing scab until there is another Crusade from the West , which is what they have always wanted . Iran is the fuse .

Every day there Muslim’s in positions of power call for the elimination of the Jewish people. Every day billions of Muslim’s around the world pray five times a day for the destruction of Israel. Why are these stories never covered in the press? Because Gingrich was right; the Palestinians need to be victims in order for Muslim’s to justify their visceral hatred towards the Jews.

Newt is correct….they are just Arabs, Egyptians, Jordanians, Syrians, Lebanese, there is no Palestinian people, no Palestinian culture, of course, now these Arabs have lived separated from their homeland for decades and Egypt and Jordan won’t take them back (Egypt and Jordan controlled that land)….and of course, the have been offered everything and turned it down. Newt is correct and people should understand the recent history.

Man, the TRUTH hurts, doesn’t it!? The area known as Israel, has been Israel going back thousands of years. It is the land God showed Abram, it is the land God lead Moses and the Hebrews to out of Egypt.
Israel was given it’s homeland by UN decree and negotiations. The “palestinians” had a chance back then for a homeland, a separate, independent state, and rejected it. Has they have several times since.
The animosity in the Middle East has nothing to do with the “palestinians” or their “rights” etc. It has to do with the destruction of Israel, PERIOD.
Hamas, Hezbollah, Iran, Islam, every Arab country has sworn to the destruction of Israel, and none have rescinded that opinion.
One other thing, it was never called “Palestine” until the Romans called it that after the destruction of Jerusalem and the Temple.

Thou shalt not avenge, nor bear any grudge against the children of thy people, but thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself——————-Yes ys , but please use the whole quote as it is more illuminating I think . Fact: The Jews do not consider non-Jews to be their “neighbors” , at least in their religious context . Non-Jews are a lower class than Jews in Jewish religion historically for many centuries , “Goyim” in Yiddish . So , the traditional Jews do not actually love ALL their neighbors , even your enemies , as Jesus clearly taught , they really only love their neighbors who are fellow Jews , per the above complete biblical quote , but not necessarily anyone else , which is clear in watching the Zionists terrorize their Gaza bound hostages. on a daily basis . The Palestinians have legal rights to their historical land , the UN has recognized that right and so have many international tribunals. It’s time to stop pandering to the Zionist AIPAC lobby and let the Israelis and the Arabs figure out a way to either A) Live with each other or B) kill each other off in private ( i.e. no foreign interventions ) in great numbers as well so the rest of us can have some peace , at least for awhile

THAT is why there are no Twin Towers in NY city now , i.e. US tacit and patent pro-Zionist meddling in the Middle East (along with a lot of other “general ” meddling in that part of the world as well. We gave the Zionist the ability to defend themselves , but they took that advantage and took what was not theirs to take , at least not legally according to most impartial observers / courts . Newt IS an ignoramous and certainly has a tongue that wags at both ends. However, Jeruslen was founded by Jews. Judaism antedates Islam by several thousand years. In fact, the Quoran recognizes Abraham and Sarah, as well as other prominent figures who, alone among other people at the time recognized and espoused monotheism. Islam is also monotheistic, however, Muhammad’s efforts to have the Jews embrace Isam were rejected. Ever since then believers of Islam have considered Jws their enemy. As for Christianity, here again the Jews rejected all efforts of the Christians to accep;t Jesus as their Messiah, resulting in persecution of Jews throughout the world, wherever they fled since the Diaspora. Before the UN created the Jewish state the land was occupied by Jews, Arabs, and Christians of various sects. It still is. What the Palestinians fail to recognize, much less admit, that in all the time they occupied that bleak, barren patch if land, they did absolutely nothing to make it productive. Since the establishment of the State of Israel, and even before, Jews worked to make the desert bloom. Since becoming a nation Israel, in spite of being surrounded by envious enemies, has become highly productive, highly educated popuation. The very sad situation is that almost all the people now occupyin the Middle East are Semites. Instead of developing the West Bank and Gaza, the so-called Palestinians have sunk all their available assets into developing military might for the sole purpose of destroying the State of Israel. If they did a 180 and began supporting their population and economic development, they might even, some day, resurrect the Golden Age of Islam, before the Crusades.

Everyone is a member of a “made up people.” These are lines that were drawn to separate humans from humans in order for us to have a reason to fight each other. Genetically speaking, there is no substantial difference between a Palestinian and an Israeli, an Iraqi and Iranian, or a white American or black American. Aesthetic differences aside, we’re all the same species.

Let’s imagine that the State of Israel had been founded in Baja California, which was occupied in part by Mexicans. To my knowledge, there has never been a separate modern nation of “Baja,” nor people of Mexican descent there calling themselves the “Bajan people.” The people living in Baja are just Mexicans, not “Bajans.” That’s what Gingrich is pointing out about Palestine. Besides the Jews and Christians living there, the people living in Palestine historically were simply Arabs, not “Palestinians” because there has never been a State of Palestine. Palestine was a geographical area, not a nation of distinctive people of “Palestinian” descent.

Newton is a classic example of a pompous buffoon with a PhD who trulu believes his pontifications are all that matters. Only I can understand this because I am so much more intelligent than you”.

Nothing Gingrich said in that sentence is untrue. Why does the truth upset the people in Palestine and the pundits here? There’s no insult in what he said; there’s no falsehood; just a statement of fact. If you don’t start with the truth when trying to solve a problem, you’ll never get it solved. Speaking the truth is no longer acceptable if that truth is going to give others the chance to work up a good case of fake outrage resulting in headlines for a slow news weekend.

For some reason, my post from earlier has been removed. Perhaps because I quoted from another publication?
So, to put it in my own words:
The Jews and the Palestinians are THE SAME PEOPLE.
A landmark genetic study in 2000 proved this…. there is no PHYSICAL difference, speaking genetically, between the two populations.
This same study (conducted by scientists in the US, Europe, and Israel) confirmed that the Jews had come OUT of Palestine, beginning in roughly 556 B.C.
Prior to that, they were ALL one people (not “Arabs” and “Jews”). They remain so. And the land called Palestine has been inhabited by these people for over 5 thousand years. If ANYTHING, it is more accurate to say that the JEWS were an “invented people”.
Religon, culture, and politics are the only things which divide them into “different people”.
Newt’s grasp of history, be it American or Middle-Eastern, is tenuous at best. And we don’t need another President who bases his Middle-East policy on the Bible and an apocolyptic world view.

Sometimes politically correct can be a valuable tool. Telling a Palestinian that he is invented would be tantamount to telling Calista that she looks like a hag in the morning. Pretty much the same result. In the case of the Palistinian it could be considered tact and discretion.

Apparently, what a LOT of people do not seem to understand is whether or not Newt is technically correct is totally irrelevant. That is because of the fundamental reality that the concepts of BOTH race and culture are artificial social constructs that people invent just to make it easier to categorize themselves and others into different groups. Tragically, the most common use for identifying others is to make it easier to rationalize exploiting and oppressing them.

Everyone is entitled to their own opinion, however not their own facts. Israelis are not only transplanted Jews who settled from Eastern Europe or some other area to find religious freedom. Jews have lived on those lands for many thousands of years and there are thousands of years of Jewish history. Newt was historically correct but not politically correct. There are Arab Israelis that live a good life in Israel. No one forced Arabs to leave, but when all of the surrounding Arab countries surrounded Israel and waged war to destroy the Jewish state, the Arabs (or Palestinian Arabs- all residents on that land- Arab or Jew were refered to as Palenstinians until the land was renamed Israel.) fled the land and planned on returning once all of the Jewish people in the new State of Israel were killed. Jews from the Arab countries were expelled or fled to live in their Jewish homeland. (Iranian Jews, Iraqi Jews, etc.) Generations of Jews also lived in the “disputed” land. One question I would ask those who think the Jewish people stole the land and pushed out a people. Who was the Palestinian King or president and what was their form of government? They were under Arab rule of Trans Jordan. They didn’t rule themselves, they had no organization or form of government, so they technically were not a separate people or a country. Listen carefully when the Palestinian Arabs speak of “occupied” land. They refer to the entire State of Israel in Arabic- not just the West Bank or Gaza. There needs to be two counties, Israel and a Palestine, side by side living in peace and prosperity-if only the more radical Islamic factions would permit that to be a reality!

If that is half true, how would these candidates feel about coming back home to stand in line(s) to find a job (Part-time). This would be behind those already there.
Next: If these are things you would do if you were president, why not work with the present president and get this world, nation, country, cities in shape. Why not?

Newt happens to be correct. Palestine was an invention of the Romans as an insult to a conquered people, the Jews. Those who currently identify themselves as Palestinians are Arabs who migrated to the area from Jordan, Syria and the surrounding countries when the Jews began making the desert blossom and making the entire area economically prosperous. In May of 1948, the Arab countries told their countrymen living in the resurrected nation of Israel to leave so that Israel could be destroyed and then they could go back. Didn’t work that way and the Arab nations decided to leave them in the area as refugees for political purposes instead of inviting them back to their ARAB homelands. Blame the Arab nations for the “Palestinian” problem, not the Jews.

There never was any ethnic group within the arab community known as Palestinians – just as there were no Indian Muslim known as Pakistani. India was partitioned to give a section of Indian Muslims their Pakistan, an invented word meaning Land of the Pure. Today Purity has meant there are only 2% Hindus Sikhs, & Christians there in Pakistan. While British India could be broken up, but a tiny Israel of 7 million has been unacceptable to Islamic Palestinians. Millions of Hindus Sikhs were displaced from what now is Pakistan, but NO one turned terrorist to claim it back.
