The Presidential Planner - Happy Birthday, First Lady Obama
First lady Michelle Obama turns 48 today, a milestone that her husband's re-election campaign is using to rally supporters.
"I'm writing because our FLOTUS, Michelle, turns 48 on Tuesday, and I know I'm not her only fan out there," the president wrote in a letter asking supporters to "join me in wishing her a happy birthday."
"This fall, Michelle and I will have been married 20 years. The next 10 months will be harder than any we've experienced together, and I couldn't do it without her. I know she'd love to hear from you today," the president wrote.
No word yet on how the first lady plans to celebrate her birthday. She rang in the 47th last year with dinner with her husband at Wolfgang Puck's Washington restaurant The Source.
As for the president, he will spend the morning meeting with his Jobs Council at the White House.
Obama will meet in the afternoon with King Abdullah of Jordan in the Oval Office. "The President looks forward to discussing a broad range of bilateral and regional economic and security issues during their Oval Office meeting, including King Abdullah's leadership in advancing our shared goal of a negotiated peace between Israel and the Palestinians," according to the White House.
The president will honor the 2011 World Series Champion St. Louis Cardinals later in an East Room ceremony.
