After Rick Santorum’s Sweep, How Worried Should Mitt Romney Be?
I put that question to ABC News’ political contributor Matt Dowd this morning. He summed up Mitt Romney’s standing in the Republican race after Rick Santorum’s three state win like this:
“After Florida [Romney] thought he had gotten engaged and a wedding date was set and the voters gave him his ring back and said ‘We’re going to flirt with this guy from Pittsburgh for a while,’” Dowd said on “GMA.” “I mean it’s an amazing turn of events for Mitt Romney. He thought he had this done.”

Mitt Romney shouldn’t be worried at all. He’s the GOP establishment choice. The republicans will make sure the one with the most money gets the nomination. It’s in their genes.

I agree. I am confident that Romney will be the Republican nomonee but I personally feel he is damaged by all of this. His party is clearly telling him; “we don’t want you.” There just seems to be no excitement for or over him.

‘We’re going to flirt with this guy from Pittsburgh for a while,’” STOP saying this guy is from Pennsylvania! Even as the elected Senator from PA, he and his family lived in Virginia, where he still resides. He billed his local PA school district for over $100,000 to cyber school his kids in Virginia. The only thing he’s vying for is the VP slot, which he doesn’t deserve, for the misogynist, racist, homophobe that he has been proven to be.

These wins are way overblown and have very real meaning, Missouri was a beauty contest and had nothing to with the selection of delegates. Romney will be the nominee.

Amazing, second place finish Ron Paul. Perhaps it is time for “hope and change”. Not politics as usual with the Good ol Boys, that the establishment wants.

I’m so happy I can cry. I’m a Republican and a Conservative and I wouldn’t vote for Twitty Mitty if he was the Nominee. The man’s boring, ho-hum and a mega-rich elitist who couldn’t care less about the middle class. All he’s doing is stoking his ego. I hope he disappears into the dust bins of history.

I guess that must mean that in the Democrat’s case, the one with the most hot air gets the nomination. It is in THEIR genes.

I was born and raised in western Pennsylvania. Like Santorum my father was an Italian immigrant that worked in the coal mines.
Rick has forgotten his roots, no respectable coal miner or steel worker would ever vote for a republican.

Ironic TM, It seems the guy who has forgotten his roots is the guy who votes for a president that wants to decimate coal and oil production. Anyone that vote democrat votes for workers in China.

Why do you think the President wants to decimate coal and oil production? He’s just opened up 30 million acres for off shore drilling and has always favored clean coal and natural gas.
President Obama has never said he doesn’t want the Keystone pipeline; he just wants to make sure we get the most bang for the buck. The gullible republicans keep saying 30,000 jobs, but most reputable economists and Trans Canada itself says less than 5,000.
Also the oil companies themselves have said, this won’t reduce the price of gasoline here, most will go to China. Why do you think the Chinese are so hot for the deal?

Doesn’t make any difference who is ahead, they’re all clueless to what the real needs of this country are. They are only pandering to thier own kind. Nit(w)mit is pandering to the wealthy and the corporations who are bankrolling his campign. Sanitarium–the ecapee from the looney bin– is pandering to the teabaggers who are crazier than he is.

Mitt Romney is a very rich businessman that was rich the day he was born. He will do what he thinks is best for the class he comes from. I don’t fault him for this, it’s smart. Everyone throughout history has protected their own tribe.
The problem is when he favors the rich and powerful he fails to see the problems of the middle class. We in the middle class can’t depend on largess from the 1%. We need to fight for our aspirations. Middle class republicans have an identity crisis; they fail to see what class they belong too.

Instead of trying to rationalize excuses as to why there is no Keystone pipeline, maybe you should remember obamas positon and comments regarding cap and trade. It’ll explain a lot as to why there wont be a keystone as long as he’s in the whitehouse. In the meanwhile those old school jobs our dads had are going overseas thanks to this administration.

Tm, you are badgering Ivan about Romney being rich? Obama is poor? Nah, our prez is a millionare too. Politics has evidently been very good to him.

Out-sourcing began way before President Obama. It began with the demonization of the labor unions in the Reagan administration. Companies wanted a cheap labor force and they couldn’t get it as long as the unions had some power.
Under President Obama a lot of those jobs are coming back. It’s not only what he’s done but the Chinese and Indian work force is tired of being slave laborers and are demanding higher wages and better working conditions.
President Obama was not poor; I’d say lower middle class. I’m sure there were times in his life when he didn’t have the money to have what he wanted. He learned to save or do without. Mitt has never experienced that life style, it’s not his fault he was born rich but he needs to quit trying to tell the American working man/woman he knows where they’re coming from.

TW, Not only has outsourcing reached all time highs under obama, but he’s giving companies motivation to move more jobs over seas. But heck I guess if you own a solar power company you can get a pretty good subsidy check right? Or maybe us common folk should be glad for that opportunity to apply for a fast food job right? Again politics has been VERY profitable for the prez..Obama isn’t exactly poor is he? The man is a millionare. But he’s your millionare right ? cmon already.

It’s not about how much money someone has, it’s how that money determines their attitude and priorities. JFK was very rich but he and his brothers never forgot their poor Irish roots. They constantly fought for the poor and minorities. Mitt is not that type.
Jobs are coming back to America, you can’t deny that. I think we could do more, like penalizing companies that out-source but the republicans would never go for that.
If you’re talking about Solyndra, remember that Solyndra was one of 28 companies in that program that failed. Another, in New York is on the verge. 26 of those companies are thriving and have hired thousands of workers. The Energy Department knew these were risky ventures and some would fail.

Mitt should not be worried at all! Everyone that casts a vote should strive to become an informed voter and do research on ALL the candidates.
I’m the one to be worried if the voters do not do research on ALL the candidates, including Mr. Obama. This knee-jerk reaction to make choices without becoming an informed voter is not the way to go. Don’t just rely on the media: newsprint, tv, internet, or whatever. Take the time to be more knowledgeable about the candidates before voting in the primaries or the November election.

I kind of see Santorum as a bully. He has little to offer, has not won a debate, has not shown any fundraising prowess, and has no economic credibility.
Anyway, Nevada and Florida are far more significant as major swing states.
Mitt leads 3 to 1 in delegates, and more than 2 to 1 in popular vote.
Also, Rick has only shown the ability to win in caucus states, not primaries.
Anyway… Santorum will not win. He is the last not Romney candidate to peak for a reason. He is the weakest, the runt of the litter, and to compensate, a bully.

If Obama sweep 3 primaries against Clinton would it follow new TSA regulations and a fluff story about women in combat… someday in the future? You want to talk about tolerance, try being a conservative watching ABC News.
