Donald Trump Hitting The Michigan Airwaves For Mitt Romney
ABC News’ Michael Falcone reports:
With just over a week to go before Michigan voters head to the polls, Mitt Romney is enlisting the help of one of his highest-wattage surrogates: Donald Trump.
The real estate mogul is preparing to spread his pro-Romney, anti-Rick Santorum message in a series of radio interviews this week on local stations from Traverse City to Detroit.
Trump’s effort begins Monday morning with an interview on the “Art Lewis Show,” on WSGW news radio in the Flint-Saginaw media market.
On Tuesday he will call into the “Ron Jolly Show” on WTCM in Traverse City. On Wednesday it’s the “Paul Smith Show” on WJR in Detroit. And on Thursday, Trump will talk to Michael Patrick Shiels, host of a drive-time radio program on WJIM in Lansing.
In recent interviews, Trump has not been shy about his distaste for Santorum, who appears to be locked in a close race with Romney in Michigan — a high stakes contest for both candidates.
“All of a sudden, he says, ‘let’s become president?’ Trump said in an interview with Fox News’ Greta Van Susteren earlier this month. “Give me a break.”
Trump, who endorsed Romney at the opulent Las Vegas hotel that bears his name earlier this month, has not appeared with the former Massachusetts governor in public on the campaign trail since then.
“For Mr. Trump it wasn’t merely a symbolic gesture,” said Michael Cohen, special counsel at the Trump Organization. “Mr. Trump has pledged to assist Governor Romney in anything that he deems beneficial to his bid for the Republican nomination.”
Trump, whose show, “The Celebrity Apprentice” had its season premiere Sunday night, joined Romney at a New York City law firm last week to make fundraising calls to high-dollar donors.
Trump is not the only national surrogate Romney has called into Michigan to help with his campaign’s effort there. Former Minnesota Gov. Tim Pawlenty campaigned for Romney over the weekend and Virginia Gov. Bob McDonnell is slated to address a local Republican dinner in Grand Rapids on Monday.

Am sure it will help Romney to have support from a super rich NYer in MI. /sarc
Actually Romney can’t beat Bambi, he just can’t inspire the base he needs. And I happen to think he was an excellent governor here in MA. He is morally more conservative then Bambi, but he comes across as too weak, and when he pretends to get tough it rings badly. He is too nice a guy.

I hope to high heaven Trump and others help Romney! He’s an honest, hardworking, smart and successful businessman who will make a great president and can help pull us out of the trough that Obama has put us in.
Yes, things were tough when Obama took over from Bush, but he’s done nothing but make them worse. His cancellation of the Keystone Pipeline which meant thousands of jobs and a reliable source of petroleum from a friend instead of the Middle Eastern countries that want to destroy us is just one example of what a foolish ideologue he truly is.
If Obama isn’t defeated next November coz the Democrats were able to produce enough voter fraud and the media able to distort and destroy Romney, a decent and successful man, while providing cover for the truly inept Obama–and he gets a second term–we are FINISHED as a nation, folks. If you think it’s bad now, you have no idea what bad is. It’ll be goodbye to the free, happy superpower we once were.

Is Trump jonesing for that ‘new candidate’ position the GOP is promising if Mitt loses? One wonders if he is he helping Mitt win or helping to highlight a looming loss. Trump can play it play both ways.

A very, very, rich guy… out pushing for another very, very rich guy to become President, both of whom were fed with silver spoons (by their very, very rich Dads) all their lives and have no idea what it’s like to be “middle-class” America. Sorry folks, President Obama is at least a self-made man… that’s where my vote is going.

Neither Romney, Trump, or Santorum has ANY idea of what it’s actually like living day-to-day lives in the middle class of this country. They are completely clueless, and without any frame of reference. They don’t even know how to buy groceries or stand in lines like we all do. As such, they’d have no idea how to serve us, their constituents and citizens of this country, as POTUS.

Willard has been running for president for five years now, and he still has the same base of support as he had when he lost to McCain in 2008. Face facts: Republicans do not have anyone running today that can beat Obama.

Romney is the best candidate to beat Obama. He has already led Obama and will again. Beating Obama is most important to voters, even to thoughs that like Santorum. But santorum has view points way outside mainstream Americans and he will not be able to carry a General Election. Voters are not stupid. Romney will win. Thanks Donald for caring enough to actually get out and campaign for the candidate you endorse. Most just endorse and then you never hear from them again.
Mitt Romney 2012!

If I were Romney, I’d be shaking in my boots about now. Trump is one of the most universally disliked people in existence right now. If I were running for President (or anything else) I would consider having Trump as a backer to be a terrible handicap!

An endorsement from Trump is like a kiss on the cheek from Don Corleone. Mitt and Donald are two of a kind, shyster business men who create nothing. Does Donald Trump have anything in common with Michigan working people?

Maybe Trumpp the trampcan find a place at the table to tell Nitmit he’s fired. Trumpp has absolutely nothing in common with anyone else but the Nitmit and Trumpp won’t be able to pull Nitmit’s butt out of the fire. It’s too late teabaggers all of your candidates went down the sewer.
