First Lady Takes Down Jimmy Fallon in Fitness Challenge

It was a battle of the titans on late-night television as first lady Michelle Obama and “Late Night” host Jimmy Fallon faced off in a White House exercise challenge.

First came the stair race, then pushups and hula-hooping . A tug of war in the Diplomatic Reception Room soon followed, along with a punishing round of dodge ball. In the big finale, the first lady beat Fallon in a potato-sack race across the East Room (cue the slow motion and victory soundtrack).

Obama’s appearance Tuesday on NBC’s “Late Night” was part of her ongoing promotional tour to mark the second anniversary of her “Let’s Move!” initiative to fight childhood obesity.

“The most important thing for the kids to learn is that it’s all about being active and having fun and it doesn’t matter if you won or if you lost,” a breathless Fallon said after his defeat.

“Oh, it matters,” Obama said.

I am glad that our First Lady is drawing attention to our need to move and eat healthier. And it is fun and feels good to play ‘silly’ games that get your body moving like sack races and hula-hooping! Exercise doesn’t have to be dull.
Find the things that you like to do and fit them into your personality type. An extrovert might love a dance class with lot of others. Someone who is stressed at work might like a nice quiet neighborhood jog to relax. A long walk with your dog and kids might be the perfect time to talk about your day or make fun week-end plans.
Same with cooking and cleaning up with the family instead of buying fast food. If the family cooks together with good music and laughter, it isn’t a chore for just one parent but a way to make happy family memories. And forget about signing them up for too many after school activities and be a family while you can, they grow up so fast!

Oh that silly Jimmy Fallon. court jester, thrall and propagandist for the democrat party. I wonder if his charming band played any deragatory songs for the 1st lady?

I like her campaign for exercise. It’s fun and encouraging. Go for it Ms. First Lady!
