The Note’s Must-Reads are a round-up of today’s political headlines and stories from ABC News and the top U.S. newspapers. Posted Monday through Friday right here at www.abcnews.com

Compiled by ABC News’ Jayce Henderson, Amanda VanAllen, Carrie Halperin, and Ashton Marra

PRESIDENT OBAMA & VICE PRESIDENT JOE BIDEN:
The Washington Post’s Amy Gardner and Scott Wilson: “Obama reelection campaign to target a new voter set: military families” President Obama and the first lady will greet soldiers at Fort Stewart in Hinesville, Ga., on Friday at a time when his reelection campaign is focused more intently than ever on a novel and potentially fruitful voter set: military families. LINK

Politico’s Alexander Burns: “Where Obama’s getting hit hardest” Two heavily funded GOP outside groups have gone up against President Obama this week: Americans for Prosperity and the American Future Fund, with an air attack expected to total about $8 million combined.  Not all of that money is up on the air just yet, but an extremely reliable media-tracking source says there’s already about $6.3 million in ads running against the president – $1.6 million from AFF and $4.7 million from AFP. LINK

USA Today’s David Jackson: “Obama to begin campaign trips in Ohio, Virginia” President Obama will make his first formal campaign trip of 2012 at the end of next week with visits to the key battleground states of Ohio and Virginia, the campaign announced Wednesday. The president and first lady Michelle Obama will make stops in Columbus, Ohio, and Richmond, Va., on May 5. LINK

The New York Times’ mark Landler: “Romney Uses ‘Cold War Prism,’ Biden Says in Foreign Policy Attack” Shifting the battle with Mitt Romney from jobs and taxes to the safer realm of foreign policy, Vice President Joseph R. Biden Jr. traveled to New York City on Thursday to praise President Obama as the man who got Osama bin Laden and to paint Mr. Romney as a cold war relic who would leave American troops stranded in Afghanistan. LINK

The Hill’s Josh Lederman:”Joe Biden gets back onto the stump and back off his script” Vice President Biden said Thursday that President Obama “has a big stick” on foreign policy in an offhand remark during a fiery speech attacking Mitt Romney that highlighted both Biden’s efficacy as a surrogate and his major liability: a propensity for going off script.  LINK

The Wall Street Journal’s Laura Meckler: “Biden Attacks Romney on Foreign Policy” he presidential campaign turned to foreign policy on Thursday as Vice President Joe Biden accused presumptive Republican nominee Mitt Romney of wanting to return to Cold War policies and questioned his ability to make the decisions demanded of the commander in chief. The Romney campaign fired back, saying President Barack Obama had done too little to support dissidents in Syria and to pressure Iran to abandon its nuclear program. LINK

HOUSE SPEAKER JOHN BOEHNER:
Politico’s Jake Sherman: “John Boehner escalates attacks on Obama” The general election just got a massive jump-start on sleepy Capitol Hill. Speaker John Boehner opened a new — and increasingly harsh — line of attack against President Barack Obama, laying almost all of the nation’s woes squarely at the White House steps. LINK

MITT ROMNEY:
ABC News’ Shushannah Walshe: “Santorum Campaign Manager Joins Team Romney” Former Rick Santorum campaign manager Mike Biundo has joined the Mitt Romney campaign. He will be serving as Romney’s deputy coalitions director, organizing conservative voters for the former rival’s campaign. The post was first reported by the New Hampshire Union Leader and announced by another New Hampshire native, Romney’s spokesperson Ryan Williams. LINK

The Washington Times’ Seth McLaughlin: “When hit by Obama, Romney’s reply is ‘jobs’” When it comes to tailoring his message, Mitt Romney has adopted a one-size-fits-all philosophy: There’s little that his economic message can’t do. LINK

The Boston Globe’s Brian C. Mooney: “Super PAC backing Romney logs error” For the third time, a super political action committee supporting Mitt Romney has had to amend its official report after media inquiries disclosed an obscure business entity that was being used to mask big contributions from wealthy individuals.
