Sen. Marco Rubio, R-Fla., will fundraise on behalf of Mitt Romney on Friday at a luncheon in Boston, the city where the presumptive Republican presidential nominee’s headquarters is based.

An invitation obtained by ABC News shows donors may either contribute $5,000 or raise $10,000 to attend a VIP reception with the Florida senator. A luncheon also will be held Friday at the Boston Harbor Hotel for $2,500 a plate.

Last month, Rubio turned down an invitation from the Romney camp to attend a Park City, Utah, retreat hosted for Romney’s top donors, Instead, Rubio said he opted to spend time with his children.

Rubio’s appearance at the fundraiser comes after weeks of television interviews and a week-long book tour promoting his autobiography, “An American Son.” The book tour took Rubio through the swing states of Florida, North Carolina and Virginia as well as Georgia and the early primary state of South Carolina, where facetime now could help pave the way for a future presidential run.

Earlier in June, Romney revealed that Rubio is being vetted as a potential running mate after an ABC News report indicated Rubio had yet to be asked to submit vetting documents.

Though Rubio will be in Boston to raise money for Romney on Friday, it is unclear whether Rubio and Romney will cross paths or whether Rubio will meet with any of Romney’s team at the campaign’s headquarters.

ABC News’ Rick Klein contributed to this report.
