The Alaska - Hawaii Connection - Swearing in by Skype - The best summer vacation and politics story comes from Hawaii and Alaska by way of Skype. Anchorage Mayor Dan Sullivan will begin his second term by taking his oath of office from 2,800 miles away in Hawaii. It's a vacation Sullivan takes every year with his family during the summer, and this year happened to fall on the day of his swearing-in. Whitt added that Sullivan's wife, Lynette, has family in Honolulu and has limited time to visit the island due to her schedule as a school teacher. (Maria Nikias)

Tax or Penalty - The Importance of Being Semantic - Eric Fehrnstrom's argument on MSNBC that mandate scofflaws pay a penalty and not a tax is the same one made by the president and senior administration officials. They all refuse to call the penalty a tax, despite the Supreme Court's ruling. On the other side - in the tax camp - is just about every other Republican. What's it matter? In the real world, not much. But in this case Romney has in the past signed the Norquist pledge and to call it a tax he'd be admitting he raised taxes. Instead, it is the SuperPAC run by two former White House staffers - Bill Burton and Sean Sweeney - that is doing almost all of the heavy lifting on the Bain attack. From April 10 through June 28, 2012, writes Kantar Media's CMAG, "100% of all ad occurrences sponsored by the Democratic super PAC Priorities USA Action have mentioned Bain Capital by name."
