Mitt Romney to Announce Vice Presidential Running Mate Saturday in Norfolk, Va.
NORFOLK - Mitt Romney will announce his vice presidential running mate on Saturday in Virginia, his campaign announced this evening.
Romney, who has several events planned in the crucial swing state Saturday, will announce his running mate in Norfolk.
The news first broke via Twitter, when Romney's communications director, Gail Gitcho, tweeted, "@MittRomney will announce his VP pick tomorrow in Norfolk. Download the VP app to be the first to know. mi.tt/Mitt-VP."
A campaign aide later confirmed the accuracy of the tweet to ABC News.
Virginia Gov. Bob McDonnell had been slated to appear at the events Saturday alongside Romney, sparking speculation that he may be his vice presidential pick.
Others believed on the shortlist include Rep. Paul Ryan of Wisconsin, former Minnesota Gov. Tim Pawlenty and Sen. Rob Portman of Ohio.
